Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Faenwulf: But Cognition is moving surprisingly fast.

EX-Deimon: Thankfully it is only 200 copies
It's TET buying his secret santa for the GOG office party :)

CorranHorn: Graw 1 on PC was really good, installed Graw 2 just recently and plan on finishing it before the end of the year (hopefully).

I donated to Takedown and the game was a released in a very buggy state, it has really good maps but sadly it can´t compete with Ravenshield or Rainbow Six. Looks quite good and the gameplay is pretty good but the AI is killing it, they listened to much to the hardcore gamers. There´s still hope though, they offer modding and I see huge potential in the game, Falcon 4 was released as a very buggy game but is today one of the best modern flight sims ever made=).

skeletonbow: I have all the Rainbow Six games but want to play them from the first onward and can't for the life of me get either of the first two games to work on a modern operating system. They're all boxed versions. I never scoured the web exhaustively to see if anyone has any solutions mind you, but if anyone knows how to get them to work and steered me in the right direction that'd be awesome too. :) Rogue Spear was the first TCS game I ever played and it blew my mind, although that was on Windows 98SE a zillion years ago. I should perhaps install 98SE into a virtual machine and see if the Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear games would work in that environment, although it's probably next to impossible to get all the updates and stuff for Windows 98SE to function properly nowadays.
The problem with virtualization is that you can´t use a graphics cards full capacity (at least not if you are using VirtualBox) but otherwise it should work. Another way of doing it is doing a dual boot but that could be problematic since Windows 98 (to my knowledge at least) overwrites the boot.ini file so it may need a little reading to solve it.

I don´t own the first games, I do own Ravenshield and it´s a really good game even today, I would recommend getting Swat 4 and I´ve heard a lot about Swat 3 (must get that one when I can afford it=)).
Does anyone have an extra Neverwinter Nights 1 code? If you have one, please send me a PM. Thanks in advance.

Russonc: Note bad, but when I've been staring at a counter for a good part of the last 3 and 1/2 days....it makes me long for those 1 minute 1st rounders..hehe
avatar
Faenwulf: Same for me, don't worry. ;)

But Cognition is moving surprisingly fast.
I noticed that....another game I already have ....:)
avatar
kecskeszarv: Well, all in all this is a forum, but we use it as a chat room. It holds up pretty well under the heavy load, I think.
avatar
mudd1: If you add a wishlist item "Add GOG chat feature" then I'll be happy to vote for it ;)

I also didn't want to blame anyone. I was just surprised that I couldn't find that wish yet so I added it.
That could be nice, sorry I didn't meant to be harsh, just the lack of smileys made it more stern :D
Does anyone have a jack keane code? Missed it :(
Hoping for HOMM3 and Brutal Legend today. Really glad I didn't miss them while I was alseep.

I've never heard of Jade Empire (or I probably glossed over it when I did) but with all the people waiting for it, maybe I ought to pick it up as well.

EDIT: While I have loved this sale, my favorite part of it has been this forum. You guys are great.

Still 86 left. And I should go to sleep. Must. Stay. Awake. I guess I'll use the waiting to drop some Tormented Planescape TWZ?-WWGF-R5?Y-E7FK, where ? is the first letter of the game on the front page right now.

arcusc: Buying myself a good night's sleep on Steam; Jade Empire is in their week-long sale.
avatar
Russonc: I will be right behind you if it's not up in the next 2 hours... :)
Yes, I'm giving GOG the rest of the evening, but I'm not spending another night online, before going to sleep for 20 minutes at a time at 6 am... Getting too old for this. :p
avatar
Faenwulf: See the positive Site about this.

Whe nCognition is over, the rest will be more or less easy sailing.
(Unless GoG decides to sell another Indie Game with 1000+copies....)
avatar
Russonc: I don't know...didn't expect Witcher 2 to take 1 hour and 20 minutes.... (feeling hopeless...:) )
Do not be sad if your favourite game appears to sell slow. 400 copies in an hour equals 10K per day or 300K per month! The Witcher 2 would be about 700K per month, which would be considered a big success this long after release.

Pure comedy :)

Frostyfirefly: Looking for a Thief3, Theme Hospital or Spellforce code for a friend, if you have one to spare, please send me a message.
avatar
Faenwulf: Spellforce is still to come. ;)
Thanks, I know, but it doen's hurt to try and get it before. The only reason I'm here is to get that gift for my buddy, and I have to get it as a freebie to boot, my debit card has reached it's purchase limit for today.

As much as I've enjoyed this (mainly this forum chat)....had I known I may not have every got started on this sale....too addicting :)

jasperline: Not sure if my post went through, read over 30 pages and didn't see it, lol. (site went down as I tried posting) I read the reviews on Cognition. Was curious what others thought of it.
Good thriller with parapsychological elements. If you liked Gabriel Knight or Still Life - I guess you'll like Cognition.
I wonder how many purchases were made, just to make the count go down to get to the next game? :/
