Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

EX-Deimon: Just place your mouse cursor on it, above it it should say "change picture", click on that

dal4fsu: Hovering over avatar image doesn't do anything. I have attached a screen cap
Dude, it's right there in the picture of your attachment. Click on that ("your account") and on that page click your Avatar.

EX-Deimon: Then i'd just play them on my console, to be honest. This is the main reason why i've not bought State of Decay yet. Even though it has been fully released, they've still not added keyboard and mouse support. They've been given a lot of stick for that.
But... even though I am a console supporter, a multiplatform game on a decent PC is going to look better, run better, plus give you the console's control options, it's the best of both worlds. Take Batman Arkham City and Sonic generations for example, miles better on PC, but designed for gamepad play.

As far as I'm concerned, a PC today is incomplete without a controller.

ReynardFox: What? No, not even slightly. Not every game is suited to keyboard and mouse, many action games that don't involve shooting can benefit greatly from using a controller.

I thought K&M were introduced when they finally released it for the PC.

dal4fsu: Thanks all, I do feel like an idiot now, LOL I change the avatar
There you go, now you have a face. I find it difficult to bond to people with no avatar. Is that strange?
avatar
dedoporno: As far as I remember the most important plot lines were resolved, so this shouldn't be that big of a problem.

Frostyfirefly: Yes but:

Spoilers!

-----

Main antagonist is still alive and kickin'

----

End spoilers.
Well, Diablo dies in every installment and come back again in the next, so what's the big deal :D:D:D

Schemilix: Well a friend of mine's been bugging me to play them since I met him, and his favourite games are Vagrant Story, FFT and Tactics Ogre, just like me.

...Yes I am a horrible Yazmat tard. I like deep, original storytelling. I'll prioritise it over good gameplay tbh.
avatar
Frostyfirefly: But also, the saga was never concluded!
avatar
Schemilix: So I hear. I'll just play these two then. I don't have infinite time but I do have a titanic backlog.
those are great. They are considered among the best strategy/rpg ever released for the psx for its time. And still considered classics to this day among alot of rpg/strategy console gamers. Gratnet Tactics Ogre was a rerelease and FFT got rereleased later down the line for PSP I believe.
Is this the correct order and amounts for the last few games?

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream - 1050
King of Dragon Pass - free
Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded - 200
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows - 600
Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition - 1200
Tomb Raider 1+2+3 - 600
Puddle - 300
Magrunner: Dark Pulse - free
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - 750

Thanks!

I would only use them if i'm playing on a PS1/2 emulator on my PC. Yes, I know Legacy of Kain also came out on PS1 and Dreamcast, but I do not want to pay extra to buy a controller just to play one game, you know?

Vagrant Story? That the one where you're investigating the ruined city?

Tactics Ogre was initially released on SNES, got a terrible PSX port with very few changes except that the translation was even worse, and was eventually remade completely on the PSP under the name 'Wheel of Fate' in Japan, but got a Queen reference in English-speaking countries. It's got a new, good translation done by the same guy as FFXII, War of the Lions and Vagrant Story, new graphics, new storylines and remastered music.

FFT was a PSX game and got a PSP port, with some remastering, a complete translation, and a fucking buttload of lag.

So yeah they got remade alright.

They've still got mouse acceleration. The mouse keyboard controls aren't really 100% fully implemented.

stevieknix: Vagrant Story? That the one where you're investigating the ruined city?
You're Riskbreaker Ashley Riot (the guy with his arse hanging out) investigating Leá Monde and chasing some shirtless dude around and fightin' dragons and pushing boxes around, yeah.
avatar
skeletonbow: You bring up an excellent point too. :) One game yesterday stalled the sale for 7 hours if I'm not mistaken. I can't remember what it was, and don't think anyone turned it into a meme either. ;)
avatar
Cardian: As has been thoroughly discussed before, there are too many factors to consider. Selling 600 copies in 8 hours (RCR) is nothing compared to 100 copies in 5 hours (Keane), but also price, round of sale, saturation and even time need to be considered. Therefore, The Prime Keaning shall always be the example to be referenced.
Certainly, and I've iterated these points previously concerning Keane as well. :)
