Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

kecskeszarv: You would only play 1-2 hours tops King of Dragon Pass and get distracted with some other game.

Jade Empire would disappoint you, because everybody overhyped it already and you would get frustrated at the very beginning with the tutorial and skip the game.

There. You asked for it.

morciu: pretty much what happened to me with those games, except I played Jade Empire in 06 or 07 and didn't get passed the beginning.
I actually had it on Xbox and never got past the beginning :( But that's part of why I want it again :)

I think I'm subconsciously hoping people will talk me INTO buying more games :)

What's the draw behind King of Dragon's Pass? Sounds like it's very open ended?

skeletonbow: I never played them when they first came out, but I am a huge fan of the Tom Clancy games and Ghost Recon series was my primary FPS for years. Just working on finishing up GRAW2 right now in both single and multiplayer coop. I played single player with the ArmA games a bit just to test run them for my post-GRAW TCS gaming and was pretty excited especially with the head tracker support. I will go through Cold War Assault first though (don't think it supports the TrackIR but would have to check) then sequentially through the others and their addons. I feel like I've missed a great part of the last decade of TCS here. :)

CorranHorn: Graw 1 on PC was really good, installed Graw 2 just recently and plan on finishing it before the end of the year (hopefully).

I donated to Takedown and the game was a released in a very buggy state, it has really good maps but sadly it can´t compete with Ravenshield or Rainbow Six. Looks quite good and the gameplay is pretty good but the AI is killing it, they listened to much to the hardcore gamers. There´s still hope though, they offer modding and I see huge potential in the game, Falcon 4 was released as a very buggy game but is today one of the best modern flight sims ever made=).
I have all the Rainbow Six games but want to play them from the first onward and can't for the life of me get either of the first two games to work on a modern operating system. They're all boxed versions. I never scoured the web exhaustively to see if anyone has any solutions mind you, but if anyone knows how to get them to work and steered me in the right direction that'd be awesome too. :) Rogue Spear was the first TCS game I ever played and it blew my mind, although that was on Windows 98SE a zillion years ago. I should perhaps install 98SE into a virtual machine and see if the Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear games would work in that environment, although it's probably next to impossible to get all the updates and stuff for Windows 98SE to function properly nowadays.
This says it all. It is all you need to know in life.

Wohoo I got Tomb Raider Trilogy now I'm NEVER gonna look anymore at this sale again!

skeletonbow: Watch the demo video of ArmA with the head tracker and it'll blow your mind:

http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/03-enhanced-games/game-arma-2.html

I have to say though, watching the demo videos of the TrackIR in various games is amazing, but it pales greatly in comparison to actually using one in a game that supports it. It is an incredible experience! I bought the device for Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe and a few flight combat sims that support it (IL2 Sturmovik, Pacific Fighters, LockOn Modern Air Combat), but found out ArmA supported it too and freaked. It's even cheaper now than when I bought mine, and they have a newer version out than mine. (Mine is the TrackIR 4 Pro).

It takes a bit of time to set it up properly and adjust it then calibrate it and wrap your brain around how to tweak it with hotkeys, but once you fiddle with it for a half hour or so and figure it out, it is awesomesauce.

ArmA 3 also supports it, hopefully that'll make it to GOG sometime too.

Crsldmc: Just amazing!! that video sold it to me right away!! your recommendation added I can only say I'm getting it by winter!

It puts you so deep in-game you may find difficult to go out! hehe!

Thank you a lot for showing me this awesome device mate!
No problem! I'm surprised more people don't know about the TrackIR. Just be sure to look at the game compatibility list because it only works with games that have direct support for it, or that have a mod to add support. IMHO, it is worth it even just for one game though. Fortunately I have a dozen or more and just discovered recently that several racing games I bought in bundles recently support TrackIR also which is going to be awesome when I buy a Logitech G27 racing system. ;)

Anyone who buys the TrackIR and has the patience to tweak things and learn how to use it for a half hour to few hours will have a mind boggling experience in titles that have support for it. It's one of the coolest things I've ever bought.
As a matter of fact the first JK is an OK game. It's most definitely not a great game, but not a terrible one, either. Haven't played the second one and I find it weird how so many people here bash on it without even trying it first. The only thing I do get is that it is probably overpriced.

It's a shame really that no-one does these kinds of games anymore. The original R6 trilogy is still the best and Raven Shield came in 2003. Maybe it's too difficult and hardcore for todays average gamer. It's really a dead genre. :(

gamefood: Harharharr... " There is no past. There is no future. There is only Jack Keane. "
http://www.technologytell.com/gaming/120291/gog-com-drm-free-fall-insomnia-sale-stuck-on-jack-keane-2/
The article is funny, and it's nice to see our little part of the world being talked about elsewhere, but I think the last line is uncalled for:

"Let’s just hope that lessons have been learned, and that we’ll never see Jack Keane 2 again after this ordeal."

Jokes aside, the only lesson to be learned is that putting a premium-priced point-and-click up against cheap-as-chips bona fide classics is a bad idea. Yes, the Keaning will remain a turning point in all our lives, an event significant enough to pass down the memory to our children's children, but it was caused by inappropriate pricing, not by Jack Keane 2 being a bad game.

Personally, I very much hope that we *do* see Jack Keane 2 again after this ordeal. Adventure games deserve better than they're getting from the mainstream gaming sites these days. If Omerta, which had considerable gameplay issues, can rise from the ashes by being repackaged and better priced, I expect the same for Jack Keane 2 once it's been out long enough to be price-matched better against its competition.
I'm feeling generous, so I think I'll treat myself to a copy of Puddle in order to make the counter run out faster. After all, you wouldn't want this to turn into... *insert Keane-related pun that somehow works with the word "puddle" here!*
I would say that for 1.99$ Puddle is worth to check. I had a blast playing it but at the same time I had a feeling that a lot of people may not like this game. I still play it from time to time to relax. Types of fluids, surroundings and level design are really impressive!

I second that, we need to do everything we keane to speed up this sale!
