Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

For those of you that picked up Neverwinter Nights 2 complete, you might want to check out the Baldurs Gate Reloaded mod.

"Baldur's Gate Reloaded recreates the whole campaign of the original Baldur's Gate game along with its Tales of the Sword Coast expansion. Every location, every character, every quest, and every dialog line of the beloved 1999 classic have been carefully transferred into the 2006 Neverwinter Nights 2 engine. It took Drew Rechner--the project's lead designer--and his small team of dedicated modders seven years to complete this amazing mod, and now you can enjoy it absolutely free. The creators provide installation instructions, not complicated at all. All you need to revisit the Sword Coast is a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2."

Crappynuker1: I was looking but I don't have desura on the pc installed. Been a while, since I looked at desura.
How would you rate it, is it drm free or you have to login to play every game on it's service?

jfelsman: Desura doesn't put DRM on any games. It's kinda like steam in that t allows the games to be purchased and installed/updated easily but you can play the games withough using the client if you wish. No DRM on the actual games.
Just to clarify that... Desura itself doesn't put any DRM on games, but they don't stop developers doing it either. Nor do they require any sort of info on the game page about DRM, despite requests by users for that in the support forums. Basically, they recommend that if DRM is important to you, you contact the developer first to ask if their game has any. O_o

Another potential sting-in-the-tail is that the developer/publisher chooses whether to put up a standalone installer for their game or not. If yes, just download and install. If not, you'll have to install the Desura client application on any PC you want to play on in order to download your game.

Despite this, Desura is great for DRM-free games - it's full of indie devs who don't want to put barriers between you and the games they make. But once in a while you get unlucky - I bought 2 indie RPGs (Dreamstate and Millennium) intending to use them on a PC that isn't network connected. Both of them turned out to require online activation, so I wasn't even able to install them. In the end, to play the two games, I had to re-buy them from ShinyLoot, which sells the same games DRM-free. I enjoyed the games, so I'm not complaining too much, but it annoys me that the dev effectively got double the reward by using customer-unfriendly tactics.

snip3rfire: Anyone else worried about this one: Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller - $10.09

(I personally have no idea what it is, I'm just hoping there's not something like 500 + copies of it... (100 or less or it'll probably take a while!)
Cognition is pretty good, it's a point & click co-written by Jane Jensen (who did Gabriel Knight). I'm actually waiting for that round, and I've read from several others who are too. But yes, rounds where the discounted price was still over $5 or so were pretty slow most of the times.
