Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Nice the thief i really wanted popped up :)

Finally a DRM free version

shayne3: Are they giving away like ONE copy of each freebie or something? I hate complaining but it kinda sucks.

Alien8n: No, there's about 20 or 30 copies, but the fact that some people have been able to win multiple freebies suggests something is skewing the odds quite dramatically in their favour. Winning one freebie should be difficult enough, winning 2 should be next to impossible and 3 takes the odds into the astronomical. You'd have a better chance of walking on the moon than winning 3 times. The odds are just insane.

(Yes, I'm exaggerating but it doesn't change the fact that if you're winning more than once that's not luck, there's other factors in play, be it latency, PC speed, browser or something else)
At least one person who got 7 or more freebies admitted he was using a specific web browser, disabling the image loading and reconfiguring other aspects of the browser to heavily optimize web page loading and minimize the amount of data coming over the wire, as well as using custom javascript to replace some of the javascript on GOG's bare page to reduce display delays, then just clickign on the link when it pops up faster with much lower latency.

It probably wouldn't take much effort to duplicate that, but I suspect the majority of people, myself included simply couldn't be bothered to resort to underhanded play like that. Not worth it for me that's for sure. I stopped trying to get the freebies after 5 tries or so and a few of them even stuck around for a few seconds and I might have been able to get one and I just said "ah, fuckit someone else wants it badder than I do probably anyway". :) Let the ones hungrier for them have'm. :)
Only thief gold to go :)
Thief 3? I said I would buy it and Thief one and hope for gift of Thief 2, and maybe a really kind soul would gift jade, but getting close to completion with my involvment in this sale.
Never played a thief game, what would i expect if i were to purchase?

If you think that's what it takes, please do :p that way maybe I can get some work done today ;) last thing I really want (though wouldn't mind Tombraider 1, 2 + 3 either!).
As somebody who's never played a Thief game, and loved DIshonored. What Thief games would you recommend?
It's actually a smart move. Most will want to buy Thief 2 as it is generally deemed the best in the series. But maybe while they're still waiting for that, they will also take Thief 3.

Edit: On the other hand, GoG doesn't care about sales numbers as those are fixed anyway....

The pure awesomeness of the best stealth title ever.

Alien8n: Application support with IIS/SQL/VB.NET

I'm a bit of a hobby web developer running my own .net websites but my work experience is in technical support, primarily with bespoke applications (I have a freakish learning curve so pick up new software really easily). One of the reasons I love sim games so much really, as well as the old football management sims :)

Blazz17: Sort of thing i want to go into later but the closest school that will do anything with IT is a state away, *sigh*

Good luck getting the job though, sounds like a fun carrer compared to others.
It is, no 2 days are ever the same :)

I did work for one company and the other guy in the team went out to Malaysia and the Cameroon for work. I got Leicester and Cambridge :/

EX-Deimon: Give me Thief II instead, please GoG
Same here, I read "Thief" and thought it was the first, dammit :P
Tempted. But wanna go through the first two....

One of the best video experiences ever. I play Skyrim in the sketchiest way possible because of these games, and it still doesn't compare to Thief.
Most prob gotta have to go through 600 copies of Puddle before Thief II and Expeditions: Conquistador arrive
