Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

nightrunner227: Everyone keeps praising FFXIII. I've tried playing it now on at least 10 different occasions, and I just never can enjoy it. I did love FFX, though.

Cardian: What? Who does that? FFXIII got bashed almost everywhere, as far as I know and for a good reason. FFXIII-2 on the other hand I quite enjoyed. But the better Final Fantasies are made by Mistwalker Studios. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon on XB360 are awesome and Bravely Default is very cool so far, too. Although, that's made by SquareEnix.
I'm a college kid, so the answer to your question is the younger, mindless action-oriented generation. =P

I'm sure we got more as we get closer to jade empire xD

sharp299: It´s true but there is some games have abusive prices... in my opinion

skeletonbow: Does anyone ever pay full price for games on Steam though? :) I've got something like 102 games on Steam ATM, and probably 40-50 codes not yet registered from bundles and whatnot. The most I've paid for any Steam game so far relatively speaking is about 75% discount off the regular price. One might think "yeah but they're all old crappy games or low quality indie titles" but my Steam collection is mostly AA and AAA titles with a handful of great quality indies also. Just gotta know where and when to shop to get the good deals. ;oP

Having said that though, I wouldn't buy or recommend buying any old DOS era games or even Win95/98 games on Steam as they're probably not updated for modern Windows like GOG games are - unless they specify that they are updated or remakes anyway. Even then of course GOG is preferred. :)
I pay full price when the full price is below 5$
An excerpt from Harlan Ellison's I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream

" AM has altered me for his own peace of mind, I suppose. He doesn't want me to run at full speed into a computer bank and smash my skull. Or hold my breath till I faint. Or cut my throat on a rusted sheet of metal. There are reflective surfaces down here. I will describe myself as I see myself:

I am a great soft jelly thing. Smoothly rounded, with no mouth, with pulsing white holes filled by fog where my eyes used to be. Rubbery appendages that were once my arms; bulks rounding down into legless humps of soft slippery matter. I leave a moist trail when I move. Blotches of diseased, evil gray come and go on my surface, as though light is being beamed from within.

Outwardly: dumbly, I shamble about, a thing that could never have been known as human, a thing whose shape is so alien a travesty that humanity becomes more obscene for the vague resemblance.

Inwardly: alone. Here. Living under the land, under the sea, in the belly of AM, whom we created because our time was badly spent and we must have known unconsciously that he could do it better. At least the four of them are safe at last.

AM will be all the madder for that. It makes me a little happier. And yet … AM has won, simply … he has taken his revenge …

I have no mouth. And I must scream. "

But I already bought Jade :)

Knofbath: I guess you are supposed to play a shitload of on-rails chapters and eventually the game world opens up. I haven't made it that far.

BananaJane: Yeah I know what you mean, I"ve fallen asleep playing mass effect like 20 times, I keep giving up on the game once I get to the big city
I feel you. I never understood what people saw in Mass Effect. I have it, I tried to play it, but I never could get into it. Never tried the second one though, so I may give it a shot to see if it's any better.

Fellin: Series really went downhill for me after X also. X-2 was horrible, they've really given up on story and gone all into graphics or something.
After giving it another shot I really enjoyed X-2 I think more then X. VIII isnt even that bad either, they tried something new and it didnt work out thats all.

I appear to have gambled and won. While IHNM&MS is ticking away faster than some, I'm back with plenty of time to spare.

So, anybody want to speculate on how GOG determines the order in which these games are being rotated? Thoughtful ones, please, and not whining or conspiracy-theories ;)

Cardian: FFVI is my favourite in the series. For the opera scene alone, it would be.
That one seems to be a favorite amongst a lot of RPG fans. It's a shame it never got a proper remake like IV did.

GabiMoro: I wonder how Heroes 3 will sell. First round went very fast but I heard it did quite slow in the second.
avatar
peanutsticks: HOMM3 is a classic of the highest order! (and unfortunately GOG has been going crazy with the #'s on the 3rd round classics)

They'll probably drop 1200 copies and cause it to grind to a slow halt at ~300 left or something crazy.
In my opinion Heroes 3 should sell like crazy. I think its the best game ever. Or at least, acording to Total Biscuit „the best turn-based game ever devised. „

Let me tell you a story about sex and video games.

Many years ago (like 10 - 15 years I guess), when the grass was green and the hormons were out of control, I was going home with some friends. It was in the evening and I was home-alone. Back on those times, when somebody from our group was home-alone we gather to his place to party: getting drunk and getting laid (only the fortunate ones, as the girls were unusually virtuos).

Anyway, a friend of mine seemed to be in luck, he was accompanied by a girl. To my surprise when we passed in front of her place he said good night to her and move along with us.

After a few moments I asked him: „Why didn’t you invite her to come with us, so you could fool around?”

..and he said: „ I'd rather play some Heroes 3!” ... and so we did.

True story, I swear on my beard!

Take a look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrrATTEtJjw and then you'll understand why people see anything in anything. :)

Simple: They ask Jack Keane.

Earlier rounds were rehashes of the same general order. This round they've been adjusting it so the Keane's stew overnight and the big games go up during prime time.

Yeah, since I don't have my SNES anymore (shame, really) I got the PS1 version but the loading times for battle scenes are cringeworthy.
