Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Cardian: As a Good Old Gamer you might like 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a PS3 exclusive about the wonders of 8bit Roleplaying in the line of Zelda. It's quite fun and can be really hard.

Alien8n: Yeah, I've heard of it, but it's not hit my "must buy this game" buttons yet.

Ironically the only reason I bought the PS3 was for the blu ray and because every FF game prior to the PS3 had been a Sony exclusive...
True the Super Slim become kind of cheaper than a good Blu Ray player :)

I bought mine for the PS exclusives and to play co-op games with my wife. She loves Little Big Planet and the Jak and Dexter series.
Bought IHNMAIMS! I remember really wanting this when it came out, but for some reason never got it. Oddly, even though I never played the game, my interest in it got me into Ellison's work. And now I'm finally gonna play it. This is what GOG is about for me: correcting history.

I wasn't impressed with the FFs this generation. Too QTE and actiony for my tastes.

peanutsticks: My favorite thing about this site is its made up of gamers who value good gameplay above superficial graphics. When someone here mentions a game and says, "Its good," I take immediate notice. One can really find some amazing gaming gems of days past on here because of it.

And I gotta say its just about the most trustworthy gathering of gamers I've come across.

BananaJane: Yeah, if you ever wanna go on steam, everyone is always complaining about anything made in the 90's.
An 80's game will come out on steam and everyone's reaction is "6$ FOR THIS SHIT?"
It´s true but there is some games have abusive prices... in my opinion

YaTEdiGo: Ah! so bad, I missed Assassin´s Creed. Anyway I got 4 games i wanted, so is ok. I am not going to play not even the 5% of the games I have in the next... year? XD hahahaha

nijuu: You know you want to impulse buy :D
I did it with NEXUS xD

Wow never knew that. That's terrible, I'm glad I never visit there forums =(

AusSkiller: Finally! I passed on IHNMAIMS the first time round, then the second time around I decided to actually look into the game as it looked sci-fi ish, it sounded ok, nothing that really grabbed me, though a good mature story is something I don't see in many games these days so I figured I would get it. Unfortunately it had sold by the time I'd made up my mind, so I've been waiting for days to see it to go back on sale, sleeping no more than an hour or two at a time for a game that I only had a passing interest in, but every sale that I waited through made me more determined to get the damn game. I swear this sale is based on some kind of psychological warfare to give me sleep deprivation and destroy my ability to think rationally enough to just pay the extra $4 and get a couple of decent nights of sleep ;).
avatar
nightrunner227: I highly recommend you read the short story the game was based on. It will help you stay awake for any other games you're waiting for. =P
The thing is that was the only game left I was waiting for, I picked up all the other games I wanted in the first round, I don't even know why I was checking the second round where I took notice of it (again sleep deprivation isn't good for rational thought ;) ). But yeah I really should check out the short story, over the last decade I've barely read anything that wasn't in a computer game, computer game related forum or game development whitepaper, and I really need to rectify that, it's just embarrassing ;).

skeletonbow: No, but that sounds pretty cool, got a link by chance? If not I'll just do a search for it.

Everyone keeps praising FFXIII. I've tried playing it now on at least 10 different occasions, and I just never can enjoy it. I did love FFX, though.

I really couldn't get into Jak & Dexter except for the very first one. I'm more of a Ratchet & Clank guy. Which reminds me that there is a new one up for 30 bucks and it's supposed to be good again after the last desaster.
high rated

My complaint was just the size of the game. Previous FF games took weeks to finish and months to find all the easter eggs. FF XIII could be completed in a day and the easter eggs could be found in a few more days after that :/

And what was with 90% of the game being played AFTER you completed it?

What? Who does that? FFXIII got bashed almost everywhere, as far as I know and for a good reason. FFXIII-2 on the other hand I quite enjoyed. But the better Final Fantasies are made by Mistwalker Studios. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon on XB360 are awesome and Bravely Default is very cool so far, too. Although, that's made by SquareEnix.
