Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Good morning in Europe! I went to bed at AC1 and thanks god the games I want are still to come. How is everyone holding?

TehK47z: I can't hate you. It's all too common of an opinion. I'll just have to drown my sorrows in something. Not sure if I should go for tea or rum, honestly.
avatar
Cardian: Well, there's always the option of tea WITH rum ^_^
I actually settled on tea with cinnamon whisky. Works way better than it has any right to.
Back to doing the good ole' 2 AM house chores to kill time... To think I got class for 9 a.m. I just cannot pass up Neverwinter Nights. Watch them sell it while I am taking my exam at 9...
Finally, the pinnacle of my Insomnia Wishlist is in my hands! Glad I didn't doze this time.

Cardian: A friend of mine bought a PS3 for Last Guardian when that was announced... well... we know how that played out....
avatar
Knofbath: I didn't pick up the PS3 until last year. Had to spend a bit of time researching games, but I had 5 years of games and reviews to pick through so I could be selective about it.
So far there are only really 2 games that scream "buy the PS3" for me. The Last Of Us and Infamous. Everything else is also available on the Xbox.

That said, Infamous was a bit of a let down. Amazing graphics, innovative gameplay, and completed 3 times in 2 days from start to finish :/

And what was with that final battle? Way too hard to complete it without reverting back to easy mode just for that battle :(

skeletonbow: PS4? What's that? :oP

Here's a little treat for you and any other old-school gamers!

Kaitu: AWESOME! Have you ever checked out OCRemix? They have awesome remixes of video game music through (pretty much) every generation.
No, but that sounds pretty cool, got a link by chance? If not I'll just do a search for it.
avatar
nijuu: Bought a copy of that game as i wanted to find out what the big fuss about it is :)
avatar
Briareos262: its suppose to be a really good point and click game. granted I have yet to play. I will one of these days tho >_>
And was censored in Germany leaving the player unable to finish it. So basically first time german players can get to ending. ^^

Awesome, +1 rep, thanks

several_options: Anyone placing bets on how long this one takes?
avatar
Solomon87: I am going to say at least 3 hours until it sells out, it has already slowed down a lot.
1 hour (im being optomistic and hope to see more of the quick movers and sleep early tonight)

Khalaq: Sure, there have been bumps along the road (GOG shutdown, anyone?), but the experiment has largely been successful. I, for one, feel that success to be well-deserved, and I wish GOG all the best.
Yup, the fake shutdown was one of the biggest marketing fails I've seen here and in general. I felt I can't trust them so much anyway :/
avatar
Briareos262: this is why I never buy launch consoles. Also the prices are way too high and launch games always meh to me. Don't get me wrong I will get the PS4 and Xbone, I just will be waiting a long time when they get price dropped and bundled with good games and have no system issues ^_^ That and I have no crazy expendable fun money for a good long while >_>

That kinda sounded dirty...

Khalaq: It has been so long ago that I don't remember exactly where I first learned about "Good Old Games" [...]
My favorite thing about this site is its made up of gamers who value good gameplay above superficial graphics. When someone here mentions a game and says, "Its good," I take immediate notice. One can really find some amazing gaming gems of days past on here because of it.

And I gotta say its just about the most trustworthy gathering of gamers I've come across.

snowflake3114: HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I'VE BEGAN TO LIVE...
Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you. Hate. Hate.

Sorry. Couldn't help it.
