Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

slave138: Thanks much - I've been meaning to try this one out
No problem, I'm hoping to use a couple of these as possible trades for jade and Thief 2 xD
Does anyone have a copy of Assassins Creed 1?
I could offer you Witcher 2 GOG key.
Tropico isn't doing too badly - at this rate it'll take a little over an hour (and that's taking into account the slowdown after the initial offering(). Not a Keane by a longshot, which took 5 hours to move 100 copies (~30X difference).

Still, it is cutting into sleep for those of us interested in something else. Next, I'm hoping for either NWN1 or Cognition (500 copies should do it). Either way, I finally get to sleep (satisfied or frustrated)...

Wish I did I am after witcher 2 lol
I gotta go for a while, probably be back for the next after this one if it keeps keaning like this. Considering that Im waitng for only 2-3 games from the List, I would be VERY unlucky if the next games after this one are the Thieves, or Jade. :S

Let us hope that El Presidente chooses Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller $10.09 as his succesor :P

(dont hate me)
Hmmm, convince me to buy Tropico 3 Gold. I am totally new to this franchise.
Is it just me, or is the quantity available for each game inversely related to the price?

I can't hate you. It's all too common of an opinion. I'll just have to drown my sorrows in something. Not sure if I should go for tea or rum, honestly.

Brutal Legend or Leisure Suit Larry with 500+ copy counts would also be acceptable to almost assure a peaceful night sleep.

LAU00050: Beyond Good and Evil's already been sold? Damn, it seems I'm online when all the slow burners are on (And BGE probably was one of those). Ah well, no point hanging around any longer
avatar
nijuu: Yup its gone. Dont think it was a slow burner... not compared to a few others *scary*
That's what I get for participating in life *D'oh! X-Mas sales it is for me then :)

If anyone has bought the game for trades or gifting, perhaps I can find something to offer up. TO THE CLASSIFIEDS! Good hunting Gogers
avatar
SpiderFighter: I'm surprised how steady this one is. Selling 13-15cpm. At this rate, we'll be on to the next one in just about ten minutes! :)

northern7: yup...and I bet at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the sales have been from people who came and originally had no intention on buying this...this sale is made for manufacturing impulse buys.
All sales anywhere will have impulse buys as there are always impulsive people out there. I'm not really an impulsive person myself however I've bought a number of things impulsively this year from GOG and the various bundle sites primarily due to the prices being so hot for the perceived value. ;) Mind you, despite the number of buys I don't really spend money impulsively or frivolously on anything else, don't have cable TV or satellite or any other recurring entertainment expenses so my gaming budget is pretty cheap compared to the average person for the most part, and a great deal no matter how one slices it hehe.

Let us not forget though that the idea of promotions - is to promote, both the games themselves as well as GOG, and I've noted a large number of newbies to the forum posting in this and other threads so I think the sale is drawing all kinds of new customers to GOG (impulsively or otherwise) that they never had before and getting some good word of mouth. I have a good feeling that this is going to translate to GOG sales increasing and their "buying power" so to speak allowing them to do more to bring on more publishers and titles in the future. It's kind of cool to be a part of the whole GOG community and watch this business grow from the ground up grass roots. I read somewhere that GOG is allegedly the 2nd largest online digital distributor lately. I don't know if that is factual or not but it surprised me in a good way (if it is true), and would suggest we've all got some good things in store for us from them in the future. :)

Just wait for the holiday sales to start if you really really want to see impulsive buying on promotions. :) I know I'm probably going to go crazy again this year clearing off some items from my wishlist. :)

Take care.

You know you've always wanted to be a dictator and decide every aspect of people's lives.
Okay, third.. or fourth? day of waiting for NWN Diamond. This is insane. I hope this sale would just end already :D

No idea when it's coming. I'm giving up. Maybe next sale.
