Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Prydeless: It's just KotOR and Mass Effect, except with martial arts! BOOM! Dehyped.
avatar
MaximumBunny: A combination of 2 great games...ULTRAHYPED!
EXACTLY! Now I can barely stand the wait! ARGH!
avatar
MWink: La Mulana! Finally, one I've been waiting for. This looks like it has serious potential but the price was holding me back. Now I can give it a try. Now if I could just get a Thief game I could be done with this horrid sale.

I love GOG but I hate the format of this sale. The freebies are the worst part. I've seen at least 7 of them and despite clicking as soon as they appeared, I got none (and there was one I really wanted). It may as well pop up a pic of a giant middle finger. If GOG wants to give away freebies they should do it like they did last time (word searches and what not).

CharlesGrey: Agreed, on pretty much all of that. The freebies are just taunting me, if I even get to see them. If there's one thing they should change about this sale format it's the freebies, which should be more of a "lottery" thing or whatever.
I got one freebie, aquanox 2, i had no desire for the game, but I was lucky enough to get it. I managed to click on it very late at night. I figured everyone was sleeping. but yeah i've been clicking every 3-4 games like clockwork and nothing!
Let's talk about HoMM3 for a minute! I have HoMM 3 vanilla, and have been trying to wait for the Complete to come back around in the sale. My current budget is such that I can't swing it full price, though I can just manage the sale price. However, I'm sick, and I don't know if I can wait much more tonight. I adore the game, but is it worth waiting more for or should I take the gamble that it might still be available in 8 hours and go to bed? (I should note that I also can't seem to find my disc for it, though it is currently installed on my system and thus can't have gone *too* far.)

SpiderFighter: I'm surprised how steady this one is. Selling 13-15cpm. At this rate, we'll be on to the next one in just about ten minutes! :)
And seeing as how this sale is going, it probably won't be what you want.

Buenro-games: How awesome would it be if they just offered Thief 1+2+3 in a bundle and say: "ok, $5 bucks, cough it up and they are yours".

o.0

Come on GOG, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Sigh, such wishful thinking on my part.
avatar
Knofbath: I picked them up in the Fair and Square bundle for $15 a few months ago. Bad part is I had to buy Daikatana with it, I wasn't happy about that.
Agreed. Daikatana is one of the worst games in existance. :D
To jpwiseguy, Great avatar image, I still think Doom is the best pure action game and remains a top-class fps as I play it regularly on the xbox.
avatar
Decaf_PIxel_Kat: I can't believe I missed Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum! *bangs head on wall* Have there been any repeat games or is it over when it's over?

BHTrellis: And seeing as how this sale is going, it probably won't be what you want.
Indeed. In any case, though, I must go to bed after the next game hits...I can no longer see straight. ;)

Kyonhism: I need to sleep for my midterm exams :/
avatar
gamingrn: You could try the old osmosis theory and use your text books and notes as a pillow while you wait around here. Seriously though, good luck with those, hope you score well.
Thanks :)
2 d9wn off my list. Just 3 more to go before i am freeeeee
About Jade Empire. I'm currently forcing myself to finish it. It's a really good game, but if you've played like every other Bioware game, it's just like those. If you have, say, KOTOR fresh on your mind, Empire might feel too familiar. The difference is the combat system is more like the one in those Batman: Arkham Asylum games. Others have said to play it on a harder difficulty level and I think I agree with that. If you can't get the game now, relax. You'll play it later. It'll wait up for you.

yup...and I bet at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the sales have been from people who came and originally had no intention on buying this...this sale is made for manufacturing impulse buys.
avatar
VanZanz: Me too, (and HoMM3.. but that is just a toy in comparison)
avatar
MGShogun: Those silly folks. Always have to hype over the game that I have little interest in. It's like...... if everyone is raving about it then I must scoop it up.
OH don't get me wrong, I am buying it, but I don't need help being excited for it.. :)
avatar
northern7: I'd say you are wrong...i'd be willing to bet that sales were actually much stronger - many many more impulse buys with people spending on things they had no intention to to begin with - this sale is a cash cow for them and other online distributors will imitate. It has already been mentioned by the guys at gamefly or getgames that they are interested in perhaps doing the same thing.
avatar
nijuu: Love to see how getgames does - their prices have always been....ordinary...
ive never heard of them. Only games I buy during these pre holiday/ holiday sales is mostly just from gog. Some steam too, blasphemy I know, tho I don't pay a whole lot =P
Go buy La Mulana if you enjoy pulling your hair out.
