Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

itchy01ca01: So alright, a lot of people posting on this thread are from europe. Just wondering how most of you write better English than native English speakers? Did you guys learn it in school or are you from the UK/North America? Just curious.
avatar
Schemilix: Most Europeans are taught English and, when you're taught a language, you pay attention to grammar more than a native speaker. It's very common in the mainland.
Yup, that must be one reason.
But GOG also seems to have very language-proficient users for some reason :)

ChocoboSlayer: Ok, feeling good about the 30 or so games I've gotten so far during this sale, but what about Armored Princess?

I love tbs, HOMM, but I already have Armored Princess vanilla and all the expansions except this one (got them all in bundles). Does this really deserve my $5 of blood money?
avatar
Knofbath: It's mostly an expansion of Armored Princess, so no you don't really need it. I've already got it from that 1C weekly bundle a few months ago.
See how armored that 'princess' from the game cover is... :)

MGShogun: I don't think I have never met sale that can crush my soul like this one. :(
avatar
jpwiseguy: Same. :(

I just want the Thief games and Jade Empire! ARGH!

Keane's curse be upon ye wicked GOG demons!
All I want is Jade Empire and NWN 1, dammit.
I finally changed my avatar from the default one. A tribute to this sale and since I have new games from GOG, I'll probably use the forum more.
avatar
kcrabb: GOG is probably reading our posts and are like, "people want neverwinter 1, jade empire, and the thief games the most. We'll save them for last."

Buenro-games: I am 100% sure that is the truth. Some people here though refuse to believe me. They are probably stroking a cat right now with the pinky finger in their mouths and laughing about it.
Could be, but then again, the few people chatting in this thread aren't necessarily representative of GOGs userbase and the people participating in the sale. At this point, I would not make any predictions about how fast certain games are going to sell. There's been too many surprises already. :P

itchy01ca01: I'd love to learn French and have picked up quite a lot, just don't have the time anymore lol
I learned the Russian alphabet without any actual Russian by myself and rudimentary German and even more rudimentary French from school years back and that's about it.
avatar
gamingrn: Yeah, and (crosses fingers) it's moving pretty well at the moment. It really is a good deal.
avatar
Lexor: I hope the original price ($25) will be lowered down at some point and then at 80% off the final price would be more manageable for me :D Today is still not :)
I didn't own it exactly because of that to be honest. And I am sure (although due to the sale my memory is a bit hazy) but I am really sure they had this crazy 85% discount on it, one day or something like that. Maybe as a bundle or buying several games or who knows, but I am sure I bought it then. Bottom line, you will definitely get it lower some day in the next months, quite sure about it. Although at this price, it is definitely a very fair price.
I'm actually curious why so many people are looking for Jade Empire.

Is the Russian alphabet much different from the English one?

yep, and also, at this point I think it's a lot more about the number of copies on the block rather than the actual game.

It was Planescape and Icewind for me, but I suddenly having a craving for Thief. :p
JUST HAVE A WTF LAUGH! xD

Me too.

I just jump on bandwagon, lol.

I heard that it's martial arts version of Star Wars: Knight of the Republic, which I like a lot.
Ok,

I have a question. I got Ultima IV for joining GOG. And in this Promo I purchased Ultima VII and Ultima Underworld 1&2.

Do I need to play them in order? IV then VII then 1&2. I've only ever played the Ultima: Exodus released on NES.

thx
