Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Good morning.

Anybody in need of coffee? I couldn't sleep any longer, and made some.
Ethiopian? Sumatra? Columbian?

What kind?

CarrionCrow: Can't forget Fez. That one took several hours to finally piss off.

Schemilix: I laugh because Phil Fish is a genuine grade-A arsehole.
I watched a Indie game documentary that had him in it discussing the development of Fez and the difficulties he had during development, how the community reacted and how it affected him and whatnot. My impression was that he, like many indie game developers were struggling financially and had a lot of pressure in their life because of that, and the game they were working on was more or less their big attempt to dig themselves out of their financial and other struggles in life and if it flopped their whole world would come crashing to an end. I think that psychological pressure, depression and low self worth/insecurity coupled with poor communication skills and inability to receive criticism well made things difficult for him, and that he didn't know how to handle it and reacted emotionally out of frustration and lack of communication skills. A sad story really, but if one is going to be in that game, good public relations is a must IMHO, and if he couldn't hack it on the forums, reddit, wherever then he should have had someone hired as a buffer there so he could focus on making the game and insulate himself from the harshness of the Internet. Realistically, probably every game ever developed in the Internet age has had people anticipating the game with negative things to say, so really developers need to develop thick skin, healthy communication skills, and some level of insulation from the dark waters of the Internet, reading and responding only to useful things and in a useful manner.

I got the impression he just really wasn't cut out for game development and probably could use some therapy to sort out his issues. From what I understand he abandoned game development not long after Fez was released as he couldn't hack it.

I've had to cross paths with developers like that in the past and they're never a pretty picture. :)

Someone post link to the updated games left to come list?

It's curiously addictive!

(No, seriously. This game is like meth, only cheaper and better for your teeth!)

SpiderFighter: I have to throw my own favorite Zucker exchange into the conversation!

Nick Rivers: Hillary. That's an unusual name.
Hillary Flammond: It's a German name. It means 'she whose bosoms defy gravity'.
Nick Rivers: I'm pleased to meet you. My name's Nick.
Hillary Flammond: Nick? What does that mean?
Nick Rivers: Oh, nothing. My dad thought of it while he was shaving.

=D

I find some of the comments he made to just be plain old unnecessary though. Slagging off people who post pictures of what they make in Minecraft for example. It just reeks of jealousy, pettiness and 'you can't have fun unless I say so!' mentality.

Mental health issues (depression in particular) don't excuse being a total arse in a public forum. I have a right to say that.
