Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Buenro-games: *snip*
The game is gorgeous. Just look at the screens in the game section. They almost look like prerendered backdrops but they are really part of the city were you move around. This is a beautiful game.

Devoidless: The storyline wasn't too bad in it either. It was fairly entertaining through the whole game. But then, in the sequel it got super weird and convoluted. Then Native Americans and pirates happened and I don't even....
And QTE's happened. *Sobs*

Devoidless: You could say the the sales are on a highway to hell.

Draggon: For those about to buy; we salute you!
It's gonna take come big balls to sell the rest of the copies.
Always thought AC was a pretty game that has a huge impact on you for the first 3 or 4 jobs and then gets a little stale unless you're really into it. That said, at such a discount, it's worth checking out for at least those 3-4 jobs, give it a chance people.

Xiko91: Ok last try. Is there a spare BG2 copy in here? :(
avatar
groze: Xiko, sadly, I don't have any, I did, in fact, buy a BG2 extra copy, in addition to the one I had, but it was for a friend of mine that really wanted to try it...

I know you bought BG, right? That should keep you occupied until the Christmas sale, during which you can get BG2 pretty cheap. Unless, of course, you wanted it right now so you could do all that modding stuff of combining both games and transferring assets from BG2 to BG, which is understandable, but ultimately superfluous.

If someone is willing to give you a copy of BG2, well, cool. If not, enjoy your Baldur's Gate. It's amazing on its own and should keep you busy for quite some time.
It was mostly for all that mod stuff... But hey I have other games that I can play right now. Maybe I should wait for christmas.
Did anyone happen to grab an extra copy of Nexus? I totally missed out on that one earlier when I was playing Don't Starve, which I got earlier in the sale.

I have codes for Alpha Centauri and Planetscape: Torment. Please PM me if you're interested in working out some sort of trade.

Pabluzcu: Thanks!
Anytime. :)
Seriously though if SMAC has a weak point it is that basically everyone is racing for Air Power/ Mind Machine Interface. And then it rains jets/choppers. The goo dthing is you can absolutely adjust your defense to it. :)
avatar
Pabluzcu: Hey, does anyone have at hand to copy paste the List of games with its prices and discounts and stuff? Im sure I saw it before posted, but cant find it now.

Just if someone has it at hand to re-post it.

The one thing I really liked about AC 1 was that you were supposed to avoid killing everything in sight and felt more stealthy then the later games, which are slaughter fests. All of them are repetitive in their own way.

Plus the main characters' storyline AC 1 was interesting enough for me to play-through to the finish a couple times...

itchy01ca01: Token Tea Party alert!
FYI, I am not affiliated with the Tea Party. Parties are for dumb-asses. Thoughtful, responsible people try to understand how the world really works. (If you don't really understand how it works, then you have no real chance of making it work better.) They try to understand the nature of people, economics, and morality, among other things. When voting they actually use the "Thomas" system to look up the records of politicians and see how they actually vote, not just what they say. They probably also use a site like opensecrets.org to see who is funding a given politician. What they don't do is just blindly forfeit their votes to a party so the party (or to be more specific, the party leadership) can do whatever it wants with those votes. If you bothered to actually comprehend my posts, you'd notice I have stated that unnecessary centralization of power is bad because it makes corruption easier. Avoiding such unnecessary centralization starts with people thinking for themselves, and not just buying hook-line-and-sinker any party's line.

Worst thing for me was all the damn flags...

And then all the damn feathers in the later games...

I have a friend who loves the series so I decided to finally check it out to see why she loves it so much.
Granted AC1 isn't that good a game according to her but I figured I best start from the very beginning :P
