Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

gscotti: LOL, I _always_ play as University of Planet. Not just because I'm a scientist myself, but I have a ton of Russian colleagues whom I'm good friends with, and respect very much.
avatar
mudd1: For me it's just that that free network node is just such a blessing.
You are right - that's University's greatest asset, IMHO.
avatar
chincilla: Its just the name of the PC release that came out much later than the consul one. They added a few extra bits to it really to counter some of the feedback.
avatar
Shendue: With little success, since the extra missions are more boring then the original ones.
I only ever played the Xbox 360 version (which I actually very much enjoy) and never felt that what the game needed was more flag chasing, but I guess adding extra mission types like that which had no real effect on the main story was all they could do to change the game.

Alien8n: My cat is so stupid. The other day she tried to eat my leftover singapore noodles (way hotter than they normally do them) and today she's eating thai prawn crackers that I've just made :)
I wouldn't call her stupid, maybe ?hungry?. Do you feed that poor thing?
avatar
mantarrochen: Diversity, man. Diversity. Explore the other factions for once. If you like me and are always running GREEN with University, try Deirdre i.e.
avatar
gscotti: Are you kidding me? I played all the other factions - but not anymore. I played most of them at least twice.
dunno why i just can't stand miriam
Is there a place where I can see what games I've missed buying since the promo started?
Okay, AC ground to a halt....too bad. Well, I'm guessing Witcher 2 will come near the end of the sale or even is the last. Hopefully I'm right. If not, oh well. 11 games out of this sale is a good enough haul for me.

Good night and good luck to all of you.
avatar
Kaitu: Are you kidding??? I hacked my own faction. That one is a lot of fun to play every so often. :-)
avatar
mantarrochen: Thats the spirit, hehe. But I bet you never played with Miriam. Oh, how I loathe that b*tch;-)
Dear God no! Santiago and Zhokharev (or however you spell it) are my go to leaders!

Pretty much the only up to date one. 102+ games. 3 rounds. This is the final round
uh oh. AC is starting to crawl at 250.

C'mon action aficionados. I thought this was the moment you were waiting for!?

Dreadjaws: Would you cut it out with the political discussion? Probability says you're all wrong anyway.
I'm not involved in that discussion, but I find them pretty easy to recognize and skip.

stan423321: Just took a look at HB site, and holy smokes, now they put an icon up to games that have a DRM free version? Man, Hunble did change a lot.
You're not the only one who found that depressing.

For a brief while there it looked like HIB were not only going to make incredible in-roads for DRM-free cross-platform gaming, but could make a solid push for source-code releases as well (most of the developers with the original HIB released the source code to their games, as a sort of stretch-goal). Lost source code is such a tragedy for game preservation, and it seems to be the norm rather than the exception. HIB had me excited for a bit about making some small improvements to those figures, but then it didn't really go anywhere. But then at least they were all about DRM-free and cross-platform, which was still awesome...

These days, though... well, it's far from all bad, but they sure are spouting a lot of hot air now. I guess they just weren't gunning for the things I thought they were gunning for. In practice they're probably trying to strike a balance (and heck, they can do whatever they want of course); but it still feels kinda like they've given in :/

HaydenRead: I really thought Assassins Creed would sell faster than it is.
Me too. Mayby not old enough so most people played it, still have it somewhere...

Fanaticism, dude! Watch as your minions conquer all those other smart factions and snatch their precious little research from under their azzes :D
