Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

peanutsticks: Have faith in the Sid Meier brand!
Please dont go. The drones NEED you. They LOOK UP to you!

Shimejibr: I'm sorry, I think you meant to say "it's keaning me!!!!!!!!"
avatar
marklinhares: apparently is going fast!
Yes, indeed! Thought it was gonna burn fast halfway and stall a little.

This game's reputation precedes it.

jfelsman: Damn I love civlike games but trying not to spend all my budget too soon :P
SMAC is one of the best Sid Mayers games, and it's also one of the best turn-based 4X games ever made. It is also THE best sci-fi themed planet-level 4X strategy game. You pretty much have to have it.
I also forgot about Puddle. Depending on how many copies that has, that could also drag.
Wasn't planning on this one but for a buck fifty was too good to pass.
Can someone get the list? Looks like it's been a while.

EDIT: Thanks!

All of these RTS games I am getting and don't know anyone to play against online. Does GoG have a multiplayer gaming community?

EX-Deimon: I'm just glad Omerta and Lucius are out of the way. Only game left that could take rather long is Cognition (even though it looks good) and maybe Expeditions: Conquistador (which i'm also buying when it appears)
Same. Expeditions looks like a bunch of fun, but they might try and oversell it ><
Was ultima underworld on sale during this at all?

peanutsticks: Alpha Centauri! That'll work

(never played it, but love Civ3 & 4. hope this lives up to the hype)
If you like well-made science fiction, you'll definitely love it. The technology tree is just great in that regard. And the concept of having factions held together by ideals instead of the random borders of earth's nation states also works really well.

The diplomacy was amazing at the time, even though the later Civs obviously are more advanced and border management is really the most annoying thing in Alpha Centauri. Allies can just build a city very close to your common border and there is no culture or whatever to keep that from screwing with your border to the point of crippling your own cities. And it's not even considered an act of war. Neither is spying on allies (but I never realized before how realistic that actually is).

I bought mine solely because i mistook it for the classic game. I would give you mine, if that was possible. Unfortunately, it isn't.

Devoidless: Yes, those 700 copies sold in 2 minutes is slow.

bew1977: People don't like JK jokes anymore?
Repeatedly referring to Jack Keane 2 does get very tiresome when the jokes are made by people who know nothing about the 5-hour 100 copy paint dry that was JK2 round 2. Very few games have come close to that marathon...

Minmataro: So... whats left thats good? Thief 1-3, Theme Hospital and Witcher 2?
La Mulana, I have no mouth also!
