Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

And are you the product of government education?
Actually, I'm a Teddy Roosevelt Conservative.

Well, you’ve made some valid points, all except for the "stupid people" thing. I happen to love people, in general, and consider those you say are stupid to be uninformed. In that category, we have one of the most uninformed and purposefully misinformed populations in the world, for reasons that I’ll decline to go into for the sake of this Thread.

Still, you are missing the point, about finding a balance between Federal and State Authorities. Surely you must realize that Governments have an obligation to provide services to its population. Not the least of which are to Administer Justice, so people don’t take the law into their own hands, to build and maintain infrastructure so Commerce and the general population can thrive, and to take care of the needs of the Citizenry through social programs and services.

Personally, I’m not terrified by Socialism, or any other phantom menace conjured up by political and corporate propagandists. And I realize that any system of Government can be abused by corrupting influences, of which there are many. And our social safety nets are far from genuine socialist policies.

The biggest of the threats we are facing is the cancer of Financialization and Privatization, where all our Country’s assets are being divided up by the Politicians and their billionaire donors, Private Equity groups and Hedge Fund managers, or being sold off to other foreign interests, like everyone else in the World.
Alpha Centauri will be sold out in a few mins.
A certified classic.

gscotti: Question about Desura: do they use DRM, or are they more like GOG?
avatar
jfelsman: They have a client like Steam but all the games can be run without the client. It's just there to manage purchases and library etc. You can also download the standalone game files. It doesn't stop the actual games from having built in DRM though. But most of them dont have any.

Mostly Indie games.
Thank you for your clear and comprehensive answer!
