Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

wanderlust76: I agree NWN1 OC was underrated - everyone said it wasn't any good just because that's what all the magazines and Gamespot said. It maybe wasn't the best but definitely not as bad as people made it out to be.

MysterD: I thought the Ancient Race part of the campaign either should've been cut-out entirely or fleshed-out much better.

Also, one of the best quests - it's a Side Quest and has to do w/ a deciding on a Trial. I think it was in Chapter 3, IIRC.

Also, when compared to BG series - NWN series didn't really give players enough party members (ONLY ONE!) to take w/ you at once and/or even much control over your party even. And sometimes, your party members' AI wouldn't really follow your orders. At least in BG and DAO, you can turn the AI off and micro-manage them and get your way in combat - and at least you can blame yourself, if you get pounced in combat in those games. Also, you didn't even much control over your party's inventory and equipment - sorta of like in DA2.

Not until Hordes did gameplay get much better in a SP NWN game, IMHO - more orders allowed and you can have 3 in your party. :D
I liked only controlling one guy in NWN ... I'm OCD in D&D games when it comes to building a character so if I only have one guy to worry about I save a lot of stress on myself lol. It takes 5 years, 4 months and 2 hours to build a party in IWD1 partially because it's so easy to gimp a party.

Minmataro: What is that 3-4 keanes in 6-8 hours?
How many more could be left?
With the Keane-ify bookmarklet, they can ALL be Keanes!

Friend of mine played through a sizable portion of IWD1 using one character because he didn't realise you were supposed to create your entire party, he thought it would play like BG where you recruit members.
Hate to make such requests, but I really have to get some sleep now and I've been wasting my entire weekend now waiting for Thief 1 + 2 and I Have No Mouth. I've already missed the Might & Magic 6-pack because I was sleeping. If any of the three go on sale during the next few hours (I'll have to get up at 6:30 am, so in about 6 hours I will try to check the deals again with my phone then), I'd much appreciate it if a kind soul could get me a copy.

I don't have anything to trade, but I could buy you some games of a similar value, or I can just refund you the money. I understand that most people want to trade, so I won't complain if you ignore me :).

And yes, I did read that I Have No Mouth is available in another bundle, but a) I'd prefer to have it on my GOG shelf, and b) I prefer my money to go to the parties that actually help me enjoying the game (GOG and the creator/publisher) I want rather than split it among the creators of a whole bunch of stuff that I'll never take a look at.

Good night and good luck everyone that the next deal is the one you're waiting for.

wanderlust76: Oh #$%^ I had to go for like 7 hours I missed BG and IWD1? Argh I haven't seen my BG discs in years I wanted them both for the digital copy. Not to mention I never had the expansions to either one of them.
avatar
Alien8n: Same here (as for why I bought them). I know exactly where my cds are, I just don't trust them to still work :/

At least I still have all the manuals here :)
Yeah sucks when you've been getting Keaned since the sale started...then when you have to go for a while you miss 2 you wanted.

CorranHorn: I tried the demo when it was released, some things where a bit funny but they quickly became old and then I saw how little this game had to offer me, even the first mission involved so much violence and I tried to keep it at a bare minimum. No Postal 2 is not a game I would recommend to anyone unless they want a really violent game with no story at all and meaningless reasons for going Postal.

Max Payene, now there is a game I would recommend to almost everyone=).
avatar
Faeja_Vu: I wouldn't even recommend it for the ridiculous violence. Hell, I had way more fun in that CoD airport level that got all that media attention. The "all killing, no story" games I would recommend in a heart beat would be Quake III Arena or one of the Unreal Tournament games. I love those arena games. Combat games these days just can't compare to the fun I had with those arenas.
I love these games too. :D
the only multiplayer FPS I was playing all my life... Quake III Arena (Now its variant quake live) & Unreal Tournament these games are awesome!!!! because most modrern Fps have multiplayer slow and boring but their campaing so Cool... halo, Cod, killzone, Battlefield... etc

You must have a hell of a time creating one in Icewind Dale 2.

You can always choose the 'recommended' option ;)

It might not be the best, but you'll manage with it. If you min-max or twink your characters, the games tend to get really easy. The huge number of mods to make BG2 more difficult are evidence of that.
