Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

stan423321: Not gonna claim this key, but this way to troll seekeers/bots is bloody brilliant.
Unfortunately I cannot claim credit. I saw this done earlier and liked it too!

ClaudioAGS: Well... this sale is almost finished for me... anyone interested in trading his Dont Starve, Rogue Legacy or MOO 1+2?
avatar
Xandon: LOL nice avatar!
my goal on these last 12 hours was at least to see a bear... :-)

Xiko91: NWN1 original campaign was a good story. Why don't you like it? I'm curious
avatar
wanderlust76: I agree NWN1 OC was underrated - everyone said it wasn't any good just because that's what all the magazines and Gamespot said. It maybe wasn't the best but definitely not as bad as people made it out to be.
It certainly wasn't terrible, but combat and character building simply are emphasised over story in it. Similar to Icewind Dale.
Anyone interested in a Neverwinter Nights 2 trade? I have System Shock, Master of Orion, or Icewind Dale

CorranHorn: I tried the demo when it was released, some things where a bit funny but they quickly became old and then I saw how little this game had to offer me, even the first mission involved so much violence and I tried to keep it at a bare minimum. No Postal 2 is not a game I would recommend to anyone unless they want a really violent game with no story at all and meaningless reasons for going Postal.

Max Payene, now there is a game I would recommend to almost everyone=).

Faeja_Vu: I wouldn't even recommend it for the ridiculous violence. Hell, I had way more fun in that CoD airport level that got all that media attention. The "all killing, no story" games I would recommend in a heart beat would be Quake III Arena or one of the Unreal Tournament games. I love those arena games. Combat games these days just can't compare to the fun I had with those arenas.
I also like those games, Unreal Tournament 2004 demo has been played so many times and I own 2 copies of the game (bought a second one since it came without the bloody CD key) yet I choose to play the demo=).

Played some Quake Live but forgot about it but plan to play it again when it becomes a installer based game.

I was a big fan of Black Hawk Down myself. I scripted quite a few tournament maps when I was playing that game :)

I thought the Ancient Race part of the campaign either should've been cut-out entirely or fleshed-out much better.

Also, one of the best quests - it's a Side Quest and has to do w/ a deciding on a Trial. I think it was in Chapter 3, IIRC.

Also, when compared to BG series - NWN series didn't really give players enough party members (ONLY ONE!) to take w/ you at once and/or even much control over your party even. And sometimes, your party members' AI wouldn't really follow your orders. At least in BG and DAO, you can turn the AI off and micro-manage them and get your way in combat - and at least you can blame yourself, if you get pounced in combat in those games. Also, you didn't even much control over your party's inventory and equipment - sorta of like in DA2.

Not until Hordes did gameplay get much better in a SP NWN game, IMHO - more orders allowed and you can have 3 in your party. :D

Looks like Postal 2 is the next Don't Starve/Miami Hotline now...just got out of the shower and it's still up

trustymutsi: Well, I was able to get Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Neverwinter Nights 2.

1. Should I try and get the first Neverwinter, for the story?

2. What order should I play these in? I assume Neverwinter would be last.

Thanks for any feedback! :)

CarrionCrow: Suggestion - if you haven't played these games before, read the manuals beforehand. Things like character creation, classes, combat and spells will make a lot more sense.
Heh... I figured out the manuals are essential after trying to play Masters of Orion last night :)

I forgot how important manuals were back in the day. Tutorials have spoiled us! :)

It's taken a leaf out of the UK's postal service. It's gone on strike...

This is moving quite well compared to those titles.
Postal 2 sold pretty steady up until it crashed at around 300.
Oh #$%^ I had to go for like 7 hours I missed BG and IWD1? Argh I haven't seen my BG discs in years I wanted them both for the digital copy. Not to mention I never had the expansions to either one of them.
