Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CarrionCrow: Suggestion - if you haven't played these games before, read the manuals beforehand. Things like character creation, classes, combat and spells will make a lot more sense.

kaszman1: Good point. Im playing computer D&D games since BG1 and I fell in love with them (never tried the table version) and sometimes I can still find new information regarding the rule system.
Well, I knew the bare bones from having the D&D 2nd edition books around, but when the paper manuals are thick enough to bludgeon sheep and chock full of spell stats? Figured it'd be good to read through.

FudoMyo: If time is money, and I've been sitting here for three days trying to nab NWN1 for 2 bucks, then I'm a complete idiot and should just pay full price for it and go to bed.

What psychological trickery compels us to sit here and do this!?
Or you could wait a month or so, and pick it up in the Christmas sale... :D

TheJadedOne: In the meantime voting has changed from something originally reserved for those with skin in the game and some proof of competence (heads-of-household with their own capital) to something granted to pretty much everyone with a pulse, so now our economy is every day more and more centrally planned with a full 40% of the voting block electing those making such decisions living from paycheck to paycheck because they are so economically incompetent that they can't manage to run their own personal finances and don't know (or simply don't care) to stop making babies that they can't afford (though at this point, why not pop out more babies when everyone else will be forced to pay for them?), and likely have no capital of their own because their own parents were also little more than thoughtless/irrational over-active reproductive organs.
Nice fascist rant. The "they deserve to be poor" is a staple of US political discourse. But that's not how capitalism works - capitalism doesn't reward hard work and conscienciousness. Capitalism rewards capital, no matter how acquired. There is plenty of research showing that poor people are more ethical than rich ones. And there's a ton of data showing that the US is one of the countries with the least social mobility in the western world. Meaning, if you're born poor in the US, you'll stay poor. But if you have money, you are bound to stay rich.
There is also research pointing to the fact that one of the determining factor in people's success is willingness to cheat, lie and manipulate.

Alien8n: That's a good point actually, I believe there's been real scientific study that suggests that we have such a strong urge to "bag a bargain" that we turn off the parts of our brain that looks at the issue logically. In much the same way you'll see a buy one get one free offer in a store and impulse buy, despite knowing it's not actually something you need at that moment.
In that respect the Keaneing that's been happening during the last round is (probably) really working against them. Gives people more time to think.

Hey, thanks a lot, I redeemed the game.

Aspenwood: NWN1 has a story? Ha!

That said, the second expansion was pretty good. First expansion was kinda meh.
avatar
Xiko91: NWN1 original campaign was a good story. Why don't you like it? I'm curious
I agree NWN1 OC was underrated - everyone said it wasn't any good just because that's what all the magazines and Gamespot said. It maybe wasn't the best but definitely not as bad as people made it out to be.

Congrats!

Xiko91: Yeah, the Aribeth storyline was probably the best part of the OC.

shadowbaneaxe: Agreed. I also like the way the final chapter of Hordes of the Underdark ties into it. My paladin character liberated her soul in the end. Very fitting :)
I heard of it. But sadly I never completed Hordes of the Underdark since I wanted to finish SOU first (to which my savefile was deleted back in the day)
Ech i have to go to sleep:( There was IWD BG BG2 and Planescape today but no NWN:( so like the NWN2 i guess i will have bad luck and miss it on this night:( (but luckily the_borderer gave NWN2 to me as a gift:))

so Good Night to everyone and good luck in hunting:) or maybe i will heard a good news in the morning:D and it will be not on sale on this night.

I loved NWN1: HOTU at the end made these BIG deals about each character's endings + also anything else (certain cities, areas, events, etc) they felt was important enough to have an ending.

BG2: TOB + Fallout series + Arcanum did this very well, as well.
avatar
ClaudioAGS: Well... this sale is almost finished for me... anyone interested in trading his Dont Starve, Rogue Legacy or MOO 1+2?
LOL nice avatar!

Not gonna claim this key, but this way to troll seekeers/bots is bloody brilliant.

ramiera: Just think of it this way: "They can [pause] not use it." Can and not doesn't belong together in this instance.
(Sorry, I couldn't phrase it better :()
It's okay, I got it :) Though I think I'll try to rephrase my sentences from now on, to make the meaning clearer.
