Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

LeonardoCornejo: Want to talk about being screwed? Let's talk about Mexico, it is so awful you start to hate mankind.

TheJadedOne: Oh, wait, you're only starting to hate mankind? You got some catching up to do!
You said a lot of negative things, about big Government failing, but not a single word about the corporate takeover of our Country.

Not a negative word about those Politicians going back and forth into the Corporations and the Lobbying groups. I wonder why? Since those businesses are using their wealth to corrupt the Government which is supposed to represent us everyday people.
Ok so its safe to say Postal is a keane.

What is that 3-4 keanes in 6-8 hours?

How many more could be left?

Sadly i can only stay up another 9 hours...

XEternalDreamX: Tired too, I've been here waiting for BG1 longer than I have been playing games. lol

CarrionCrow: Sorry to tell you, but Baldur's Gate came and went.

Edit - Between fatigue and crap internet, going to start putting Ninja'd on every single response I make.
Thanks for telling me, I feel played waiting days for it. Hotline, Wizard game, Shelter, all those long wait times, eh.. Thanks for the good times everyone!

DrRoxo: Actually, "can not" == "cannot". One is just more accepted version of the other. No difference in meaning. So I'm not really sure what your point is :)
avatar
Thruggsen: "Cannot" only means "is not able/allowed to". "Can not" can mean the same but it can also mean "able to not". It is a bracketing ambiguity, eg "I can not do this" could be "I (cannot) do this" or "I can (not do this)" ie, stop doing it or do something else. The meaning would have to be derived from context.

English is messy.
Interesting, this is the first I hear of this. Not saying that I don't believe you, but mind telling me where you got this info from? I've now actually googled the damn words and for instance, http://www.dailywritingtips.com/cannot-or-can-not/ says: "Bottom line - There’s no difference in meaning between cannot and can not."
So now I'm really intrigued :P Tell me more?
EDIT: it sounds sensible though, what you wrote :D

Aspenwood: NWN1 has a story? Ha!

That said, the second expansion was pretty good. First expansion was kinda meh.

Xiko91: NWN1 original campaign was a good story. Why don't you like it? I'm curious
In regards to NWN1: Original Campaign:
I liked the Fenthick/Aribeth/And King story-line...
...but I totally disliked the rushed and slapped together story about the Ancient Race.

EDIT:
Gameplay-wise and story-wise, I preferred both SOU and HOTU.
I thoughts Hordes was the best of the NWN1 SP campaigns.

trustymutsi: Well, I was able to get Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Neverwinter Nights 2.

1. Should I try and get the first Neverwinter, for the story?

2. What order should I play these in? I assume Neverwinter would be last.

Thanks for any feedback! :)
Suggestion - if you haven't played these games before, read the manuals beforehand. Things like character creation, classes, combat and spells will make a lot more sense.
I'm sure it's been said in the time I've been away from this, but Postal is still great and is the best no story all killing sort of game that I can recall-- fall of 1997 was also my first year of Catholic (of three) and that may have kept me from going actually postal.

Postal 2 was entertaining, but I certainly can't recommend it to everybody either. It's even more pointless, the jokes are pretty corny, the NPC reactions get predictable quickly and it is VERY clunky. It is still a steal at this price and if you don't play for too long, it can be fun to kill a few minutes at a time in it.

In short, it's worth it at this price and it will help others with making this sale move faster! The Gary Coleman involvement is also a great touch to this game.
I keane't believe this sale is still going! Did I miss "I have no mouth and I must scream"?

Nope... Waiting for it, too

Think of a task (like playing BG1)

I can not play BG1 - could mean I can play it but choose not to
I cannot play BG1 - means I have no means of playing this game

Make sense now?

Yeah, the Aribeth storyline was probably the best part of the OC.

I will actually work hard to rephrase sentences to avoid using "can not" because I don't like the ambiguity of it that we're talking about, but I hear it in spoken English all the time.

It's easier to see the meaning that's different from "cannot" if you invert it for a question-request: Can you not bang on the piano please?

Bland, flat characters and a poor plot that could be summed up as, "There's a plague ravaging our city - we're not gonna put out a call for doctors, or even for priests since we think there's a supernatural cause! No, we're gonna put a call out for champions - take that, you germs!"

NWN2's story kicks utter crap out of 1's. Though its "to be continued" ending wasn't the best (before MOTB came out, anyway ... though I had issues with that expansion as well.)

Good point. Im playing computer D&D games since BG1 and I fell in love with them (never tried the table version) and sometimes I can still find new information regarding the rule system.
