Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

haydenaurion: My order of Postal 2 didn't go through the first time and I got the message of "Technical difficulty" or something basically saying it wasn't sure if it went through, so instead of waiting, I completely logged out and then back in and tried to purchase a second time which was successful. Am I gonna accidentally get double charged or anything?

wackyanne: I had the same problem with Icewind Dale. I refreshed, it said it was in my account, but it's not, and I still don't have a confirmation email. I've another window open for another shot at Icewind Dale, but I don't want to end up with two charges or more, either...
If you buy another one buy it as a gift to your own email. That way you don't have to redeem it if you end up with 2 charges. But at least you will have a copy if the first purchase failed.

Then later maybe you can trade it for something else you wanted :P

WillOfD: NOOOOOOO!!! I fell asleep waiting for age of wonders to sold out then Planescape, BG1 and Beyond Good and Evil...l!!!

Khalaq: I'm having trouble reading what you wrote. Which games did you miss?

Check your email to see if you got a mail from your Card holder, there you´ll find some info (like ID) GoG needs to be able to fix this. If you haven´t got a mail then the transaction probably didn´t work, contact GoG, the server where having major problems so you are probably one among many that had this problem.
Well, thinking of starting up a file on VTM:B. Probably going to go with Malk because, damn it, I love them. Although! I haven't done a Nosferatu run in ages...hm...

Thanks everybody for the heads-up on Myst. I think I'm gonna like that one. Not that I'd have any reason to complain for the price I paid :D.

Xiko91: What do you guys think about Postal 2? I played it and liked it back in the day but playing now wasn't that great.
Unfortunately that's exactly the same for me. I remembered playing a demo of it years back, loved it, felt all rebellious-like playing it, and in general, found a lot of it quite funny. Now that I've matured more, most of it is actually pretty stupid.

nijuu: Postal was always going to be *iffy*.... wonder why the forum is crashing?
avatar
ClaudioAGS: will it crash forever once we get to 30000? (fear)
I think until 65536 we're fine ;) ... If you can call it that anyway..

Lol I was waiting for Planescape. But had to go to sleep. Woke up way earlier then I usually do and so I checked.. Plane scape was up with like 50 copies left so I got one. But couldn't buy a second to gift as I was too slow.

Alien8n: lmao, you'd think so wouldn't you. Once you've added all the different insurance scams, er schemes, you quickly realise it's one of the most expensive countries in the world to live in. I quite like the fact that being poor or having a pre-existing condition doesn't sentence me to a slow lingering death in the UK
avatar
smileytorist: Contrary to what everyone thinks, being poor or having a pre existing condition doesn't mean you don't get health care. I for one am both, and I'm still alive. The problem is that regulations aren't universal across the states, so qualifying for public health care or being able to get decent private coverage is different for each state. The government here actually spends more in reimbursing hospitals for care given to the uninsured then it would cost to implement universal healthcare. Politicians just don't talk loudly about these things, because you don't get votes by pointing out that there is a safety net in place, you get votes for claiming your opponent wants to kill poor/sick people.
I don't think this is what people assume about US healthcare (that those who are poor don't get it). What we see is that there is a large demographic of not-poor-enough Americans who cannot afford it. I personally know a few such unfortunate people, who are seriously thinking of getting a job in the EU for that reason alone.

Chandoraa: Reposting because it seems like the site farted and my post didn't compute:

Hey, guys, what's the difference between Real Myst and Myst: Masterpiece Edition, which I just was lucky to snag for free? Is the Masterpiece Edition the optimal entry point to the series (which I never played before)?
Myst Masterpiece Edition is just an updated version of the original game - the same thing with improved graphics and sound, with navigation done through static screens using the mouse, each click switching you to the next screen several steps further or turning you 90 or 180 degrees.

realMyst is a remake of the original game in 3D - you can navigate just as in the original, but you can also use regular WSAD plus mouse for camera rotating known from other 3D first person titles and with "complete" freedom of movement - you're not limited to the nodes from original. It also added day/night cycle in several places, and it has a tiny bit of added content after the original end, which isn't very relevant, just foreshadows one of the sequels a bit. It is, however, quite pretty.

All in all, I'd say realMyst is a bit more exciting, but the changes are mostly cosmetic, and the post-main-plot content is really minimal. But the Masterpiece Edition is more close to the work of art that was originally released.

Enjoy. :)
There's some chances to see a Last Chance for Don't Starve?
Thx in advance

I'm pretty sure that one has come an gone. Sorry. :(

Edit: We need a strike out option, that'd be nice.. From seeing the other people post I now remember the jokes being thrown around at the time.

Still, sorry you missed it. ;(
