Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

golea: Is it just me, or did Postal 2 slow down a bit?
avatar
Captain_Midnight: Yeah, it started losing steam after about 250 copies sold.
This is not good.

kcrabb: Someone should predict when jade empire comes up. I've been waiting since Friday for it cause i missed it twice.
I predict that it will come up "real soon, now."
avatar
haydenaurion: My order of Postal 2 didn't go through the first time and I got the message of "Technical difficulty" or something basically saying it wasn't sure if it went through, so instead of waiting, I completely logged out and then back in and tried to purchase a second time which was successful. Am I gonna accidentally get double charged or anything?
I had the same problem with Icewind Dale. I refreshed, it said it was in my account, but it's not, and I still don't have a confirmation email. I've another window open for another shot at Icewind Dale, but I don't want to end up with two charges or more, either...
Wonder if i got time to go to shops for a bit....before the next game

Tolmar: Probably not, as it forces you to buy a gift copy if you already own the game.
Also even if you did the GoG guys are so cool they may well refund one
Ah, okay. The site has had trouble loading the forums for me during the third round of sales, but everything else worked fine until my purchase hiccup just now. I guess all the traffic is bogging stuff down.

My prediction is 'when you turn your back for 5 minutes'
What do you guys think about Postal 2? I played it and liked it back in the day but playing now wasn't that great.

Chandoraa: Reposting because it seems like the site farted and my post didn't compute:

Hey, guys, what's the difference between Real Myst and Myst: Masterpiece Edition, which I just was lucky to snag for free? Is the Masterpiece Edition the optimal entry point to the series (which I never played before)?
avatar
moonshineshadow: Both are versions with a more polished Graphic than the original, As far as I know the Real Myst addition has some added functions. But with Myst Masterpiece you have a good starting point, it is the first of the series, so go play Myst :D
Myst Masterpiece has higher resolution imagery than the original, but is still basically a slide show. Real Myst renders the environment in 3D, with full freedom of motion.

nijuu: Postal was always going to be *iffy*.... wonder why the forum is crashing?
avatar
ClaudioAGS: will it crash forever once we get to 30000? (fear)
Man, was it Thursday when we were all so excited because we were nearing 10000?
avatar
TraderVic: Well, you yanks have everything way cheaper over there anyway. If you knew how much gas, alcohol, games and everything costs here, you'd get a stroke. :)
avatar
Alien8n: lmao, you'd think so wouldn't you. Once you've added all the different insurance scams, er schemes, you quickly realise it's one of the most expensive countries in the world to live in. I quite like the fact that being poor or having a pre-existing condition doesn't sentence me to a slow lingering death in the UK
Contrary to what everyone thinks, being poor or having a pre existing condition doesn't mean you don't get health care. I for one am both, and I'm still alive. The problem is that regulations aren't universal across the states, so qualifying for public health care or being able to get decent private coverage is different for each state. The government here actually spends more in reimbursing hospitals for care given to the uninsured then it would cost to implement universal healthcare. Politicians just don't talk loudly about these things, because you don't get votes by pointing out that there is a safety net in place, you get votes for claiming your opponent wants to kill poor/sick people.

Draggon: Quit breaking the forums! :D
. . .
avatar
Khalaq: Draggon, you forgot ...

[Edit: Nevermind, you fixed it.]
Heh, thanks for keeping me honest though... For some reason, most of the recent freebies are never even showing on my screen. There is a pause at 1 left, then right to the next sale. I did not have the problem early on.

In any case, I try to check the forums after posting The List to see if anyone else saw a freebie (even if I didn't).

I think your chance for another shot is gone, I don't think you can progress the checkout when the sale alreay ended, or people would be hording games in their checkout and perhaps not buy it making the limited copy thing worthless.

This is correct.
