Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Minmataro: WHat games have you guys been playing while the sales tick down?

For me its been Riddick, Sacred Gold and Diablo 2.
Heroes of Might and Magic 2
Jade Empire is not only a great game (IMO one of the absolute best BioWare games to date, even including Dragon Age), but it's also one of the CRPS that makes the most sense playing through more than one time, even if you're not usually into that thing. For two reasons:

1: The obvious alternate path (good or evil) and many quests have at least two (and sometimes many more) different outcomes

2: Once you're through the game you can start over from scratch BUT with the character you came through with. So you have this insanely high level mega powered character with all fighting styles etc... This time, though, on insane difficulty. It's AWESOME!

And on another note, Jade Empire offers some of the most interesting sidequests I've seen. There's one where you have to DEBATE - an entire quest based only on dialogue. There's another one where you have to act - you have to remember your lines from the script and say them right etc.. Just to name two examples I remember off the top of my head. It's got a lot of non-typical "fetch" and "kill" quests, and a lot of them are not only "good or evil" but also has some greyzones in it.

Seriously... Not being a fanboy, but it really IS one of the most interesting and unique CRPS (like Planescape).
Be steadfast and brave, young warriors, for the Omerta Keaning is almost over with. We have weathered the worst of it and come out all the stronger as a result. Vanquishing Eador, the Wizard of Keane and escaping the Rampage in the Keane City have prepared us for this moment. Songs will be sung of this day, brothers, and our children shall know that their fathers saved generations to come from the Keane scourge.

LeonardoCornejo: I love Jade Empire, it is a true classic to me.

johnnygoging: Where are these guys saying Jade Empire is mediocre? What are they comparing it to? Honestly Jade Empire is one of the best games made. Who could say different? Why would you? Jade Empire is nothing besides awesome.
It´s all about taste, for example a person that loves BG could also hate Planescape Torment since even though they do look very similar they really aren´t.
I'm still waiting for Tomb Raider, Miasmata, Duke 3D, Spellforce Platinum, Theme Hospital and possibly Tropico 3.
I never played half of them before and the others I just sat down with briefly.

So what are you guys holding out for?

Selinea: Yeah, as much as I like the fact that a lot of people on here are very nice and giving, I'm a little bit annoyed that people who complain are often getting rewarded (not even just those posts of, oh darn, I missed this, which I can somewhat understand, but some people actively post stuff like "this sale sucks because I missed blank", and then they get free stuff, like where's the fairness in that? Way to shaft all the quiet/polite people), thus fostering an atmosphere of people constantly complaining.
avatar
teshra: Very valid point you made there. Good observation. But there is no cure for it really. You either follow the trend and do as they do (as it obviously happening here more and more) or stay true to your nature/character and miss out on getting the freebies.
I have no doubt there's people here right now who are online to see a sale and then 10 minutes after it ends will come on and say "aw man, I missed it". The gifting nature of some people though will fall for it hook, line and sinker most of the time.
Yep, begging sucks and even more the sneaky kind.

MadVulcan: People are using scripts to get the FREE offers. As a couple other people said, the freebies should be done like lottery among the people who clicked within the first 10-seconds or something. Anyone within the time-limit would have an equal chance, regardless of their lag times, ping times, or willingness to exploit the process. I know, I know, they DESERVE to win for being so very clever as to use someone else's script program, and I'm just a sore loser. :p
No man, using scripts is cheating, it would be like having loaded dice, I dissaprove the use of scripts or any other form of cheating on digital media, it makes things unfair, I would never do something like that, it makes you feel guilty.
