Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

thepatt: So I 'slept' on the couch all night - waking myself up every hour or so to see if Fez was done. I was asleep about 8 this morning when my DH got up and woke me by telling me he had to to go the Hospital!!! I jumped up in a huge, sleep deprived panic! "What's Wrong"?

Turns out he was just asking if Theme Hospital had come up yet!!!
TROLL OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR HIM!!!!

johnnygoging: Where are these guys saying Jade Empire is mediocre? What are they comparing it to? Honestly Jade Empire is one of the best games made. Who could say different? Why would you? Jade Empire is nothing besides awesome.
Just skimming through forums. Here's one thread I came across:

OK, I've never posted in this forum before and only started reading during this sale but I'm not going to let a good "Student Bodies" reference go by unappreciated. Kudos!

The closest I get to baking a cake is when I make a meatloaf... heh

Ice sculpture?

Selinea: Yeah, as much as I like the fact that a lot of people on here are very nice and giving, I'm a little bit annoyed that people who complain are often getting rewarded (not even just those posts of, oh darn, I missed this, which I can somewhat understand, but some people actively post stuff like "this sale sucks because I missed blank", and then they get free stuff, like where's the fairness in that? Way to shaft all the quiet/polite people), thus fostering an atmosphere of people constantly complaining.
Very valid point you made there. Good observation. But there is no cure for it really. You either follow the trend and do as they do (as it obviously happening here more and more) or stay true to your nature/character and miss out on getting the freebies.
I have no doubt there's people here right now who are online to see a sale and then 10 minutes after it ends will come on and say "aw man, I missed it". The gifting nature of some people though will fall for it hook, line and sinker most of the time.

UncleOvid: I'd really disagree about Jade Empire. It's like playing a video game version of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (OK, maybe not quite that good). The setting is fresh and a clever alternative to the typical elves-and-wizards high fantasy stuff you see everywhere else. I find the combat system WONDERFUL, with an easily learned rhythm and a lot of different styles, all of which are viable enough that you can switch up styles without feeling shortchanged by not grinding one up to its full potential.

It has its problems: The story's nothing special (it's ALL about the setting), it IS pretty linear (though I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing) and, while it tries to sell its Closed Fist/Open Palm morality gauge as something other than Good and Evil, it still comes down to the same overblown asshole-or-saint decisions. Also, there's a Vertical Scrolling Shooter minigame that's decent, but feels shoehorned in. I enjoy it, but I'm definitely in a minority. It's pretty optional, however.

I don't want to sound defensive about it, but I really do want to recommend it if you're at all on the fence. I got it back in my Xbox days and loved it. If you don't get it this sale, you really shouldn't pass it up next time on the block.

JohnnyDollar: There's only way to find out. The good thing about promos like this is that the price is so low that it's hard to go wrong, really. ;)
That's the spirit, brother. :-)

Thank you, nijuu!
As some other people said, the freebies should probably be done like lottery among people who clicked within the first 10-seconds or so. Anyone within the time-limit would have an equal chance, regardless of their lag times, ping times, willingness to use scripts, etc.

Unless you bought Two Worlds II (or other games like that one) and then you see it has negative reception and start to wonder if you screwed things up, or unless you missed the sale you were expecting the most (Megabyt Punch in my case, I love robots) and now you are stuck with Two Worlds II which turns out to be incompatible with your old PC, I just hope it does not turn out to be that bad in the end, sinc I have not played it.

It seems I am that kind of comic relief tragic character who liver ridiculous bad experiences that viewed from another point of view turn out to be funny,

LOL
