Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

smoother: He's great! ;-)
Only on Wednesdays and alternate weekends am I great. The rest of the time I'm just plain old awesome.

Beelzebubb: Is Omerta like xcom? Im thinking of buying it.

Thanks for that (so far) - I managed to watch 30 mins or so of his review and found myself buying a copy... we'll see... :)

elite580: Really want them to put out Thief 1+2 and Postal 2 sometime soon. They're all I want left from this sale :(
You may be lucky with Thief 1 or 2 next. I'm waiting for them, too, and I'm now off to baking some toast for tomorrow morning, and I'll hate hitting the "Buy now" button on my brand new notebook with my hands sticky with dough, so it's going to happen.

Shendue: If everything, i'm blaming my ISP, certainly not the sale.
But maybe they could try something different in the future to prevent people with slow connection to be disadvantaged and discouraging the use of bots? Someone suggested to give the freebies to 20 random people among the ones who buy a game. Like a lottery.
Thing is, many people are assuming there's bots, but one of the GOG guys said that's not the case. And I've seen quite a number of people posting in this thread that have won 1 or more free games. If you consider that there are thousands trying to get the free ones at any given moment, the number that have posted in here should indicate that the limited number of free copies available could easily be won by legitimate means. No bots necessary.

I certainly understand being frustrated that one doesn't manage to get a freebie (hell I've tried many, many times), but I don't get why people start hating on the sale over missing a free game. The deals are stellar, so even if all you have is 5 or 10 bucks, you can still walk away from this sale with multiple games to play.
7,99€ for Omerta+DLC didn't sound too bad, so I grabbed it. Maybe I even play it at some point.

tobias683: Finger's crossed, hoping for The WItcher 2 to be next!
May the Great Old Ones hear you.

HexElf: For me, I got.

Star Control 1+2
Master of Orion 1+2
Wing Commander 4
Sacred Gold
Total Annihilation
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
Aquanox 2
Syberia
Blackwell Bundle

All but Bllackwell, Syberia and TA were impulse buys, the rest I grabbed due to the amazing price after looking them up on Youtube. Sacred in particular looked so amazing and I grabbed it even though it meant going over budget.
Is star control 1+2 good? Ive yet to play any of those. Back in the day i was more of a RPG nut so i missed the boat.

UncleOvid: I'd really disagree about Jade Empire. It's like playing a video game version of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (OK, maybe not quite that good). The setting is fresh and a clever alternative to the typical elves-and-wizards high fantasy stuff you see everywhere else. I find the combat system WONDERFUL, with an easily learned rhythm and a lot of different styles, all of which are viable enough that you can switch up styles without feeling shortchanged by not grinding one up to its full potential.

It has its problems: The story's nothing special (it's ALL about the setting), it IS pretty linear (though I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing) and, while it tries to sell its Closed Fist/Open Palm morality gauge as something other than Good and Evil, it still comes down to the same overblown asshole-or-saint decisions. Also, there's a Vertical Scrolling Shooter minigame that's decent, but feels shoehorned in. I enjoy it, but I'm definitely in a minority. It's pretty optional, however.

I don't want to sound defensive about it, but I really do want to recommend it if you're at all on the fence. I got it back in my Xbox days and loved it. If you don't get it this sale, you really shouldn't pass it up next time on the block.
There's only way to find out. The good thing about promos like this is that the price is so low that it's hard to go wrong, really. ;)

Ahah Classic scene from the movie :)

LeonardoCornejo: I love Jade Empire, it is a true classic to me.
Where are these guys saying Jade Empire is mediocre? What are they comparing it to? Honestly Jade Empire is one of the best games made. Who could say different? Why would you? Jade Empire is nothing besides awesome.

Faenwulf: Use a credit card.

And then buy Omerta. Please?
avatar
zeffyr: I don't have any credit card (maybe it's better - I'd buy all the catalogue at once!). But I've spent almost 20$ since the beginnig of the sale, still hoping to find a lost copy of any game ;-)
Yeah, probably for the best. I fear my Credit Card balance. I wanted 2, maybe 3 games. Instead I bought 8 (and got 1 gifted).
And I haven't even bought Witcher 2 yet - which was one of the original 3 games I wanted....

GhostwriterDoF: Some of us are actually fond of humans...
avatar
LeonardoCornejo: I am fond of some humans, most of the humans in this thread seem likable for example, however reaching the patience limits is a way to improve patience, it is some sort of mental training, let's say GOG is helping us by placing Omerta right now.
That is a positively astute and unique observation... :)

D3athR3aver: It sucks that I can only +1 you. If I could, I would +9001 you. Once again, thanks so much, you have really made my day! As soon as something good comes out again I will pay it forward
You could try to look for all the user's posts ad put a positive vote on them, much likely it will increase the reputation a lot, however it would take you a lifetime.
