Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Ungunbu: please please please

what games were on sale since torment?
You can easily scroll back thru this thread since then and find out yourself as well.

GhostwriterDoF: It is selling well, since the price is Omerta's biggest issue...
avatar
groze: To me, its biggest problem is actually being "strategy / economic / historical". If a good "tpp / adventure / point and click" was on sale for that price, I'd buy it.
If the game was more combat oriented I'd buy it... :D

BHTrellis: I'm one of the complainers, admitedly, But I have yet to get a free item from anyone. I just hate freebies now since I always miss them. And I'm not stooping to begging for one.
avatar
Coelocanth: I've tried for a ton of the free games and gotten none. No big deal, they're free so all it costs me is a push of the mouse button. But no luck so far. Understandable since there are thousands of others trying as well. I don't get why this makes people hate the sale though. The deals are still outstanding even if you don't get a free game.
If everything, i'm blaming my ISP, certainly not the sale.
But maybe they could try something different in the future to prevent people with slow connection to be disadvantaged and discouraging the use of bots? Someone suggested to give the freebies to 20 random people among the ones who buy a game. Like a lottery.

Faenwulf: So, Omerta is still staying...

At least I got some time in playing System Shock 2. The longer I play it the longer I feel Dead Space is a complete Rip off of it.
Dead Space was actually the spiritual successor to System Shock.
Oh and my jigsaw puzzle is done :P
Suppose I'll do some more gaming later on :)
Not sure which one though...

CorranHorn: To get time to pass by, what game do you come to think off if I say DMA Design=)
avatar
Xiko91: GTA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suspected a game from Rockstar, for me it´s probably Lemmings, so simple yet damn hard at the same time=).

yes i will do that, thanks
does anyone have list of freebies so far?

elite580: Really want them to put out Thief 1+2 and Postal 2 sometime soon. They're all I want left from this sale :(
Good luck on your quest. I'm hoping to snag NWN, Icewind Dale, and Witcher 2.

nijuu: Wait til after the sale and see all the whingers not liking this format (yes it needed a timer but aside from that...).Its been good. Bet some of the regulars are stocking up on giveaways for later :)
The sale has some defects, the timing for example, I mean, sometimes a game stays there, unwanted, for so long it gets annoying, the freebies are so limited that you must be a master of the mouse trigger to get one, and the last chance thing grows annoying for the freebies, not to mention that it seems the selection method remains a mystery.

Still a wonderful way to sell games and force humans to reach their patience threshold without realy harming them.
@cakeface - Please make a post so that I can +1 you! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HOTLINE MIAMI! :D

Yeah, but they stayed so close to it, it feels kind of cheap now.
Damn, I liked Dead Space...

No matter what sale format GOG comes up with, people complain about it. It's happened every single time they do a sale other than their regular weekly ones (and there are even tons of complaints about those). I figure by bow GOG knows they can't please everyone and there will always be complainers.

FWIW, I don't even think they need a timer with this format. Sure, it means that sometimes there will be a long lull in someone's 'prime time', but it's good to be able to confidently take a break and since the sales recycle, there's a good chance of seeing the game you want come back around again too.

>_>

Why, whatever do you mean?

JohnnyDollar: Alright, if I get it I'm going to hold you to that. If I'm disappointed I'll turn into your GOG stalker shadowing you everywhere.

YaTEdiGo: Just dont forget to pick up DEEKIN as adventure´s friend. And never abandon him!

By the way you should play the NWN1 campaign with a different character, and exp- 1 and 2 with other one, from level 1, and exp1 continues on exp2 (there are together 1 story)
Thanks. It sounds like I may just skip the main campaign altogether. It seems to be universally loathed. If it's boring I definitely won't last long.

clcaztx: A question to pass the Omertà Keaning: Of the three Thiefs, which is the best?
Still didnt played the 3, but IMHO Thief 1 is better than Thief 2, but both of them are awesome.
