Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

EX-Deimon: I bought Thief 3 here during the second round sales despite what some people say about it. It's not too expensive and I might as well complete the whole set (still need Thief II only). I've always been interested in the games so now there's no excuse to miss out. Not played any of the games. Will start Thief Gold soon though.

deathmyrk: What's wrong with Thief 3? I had XBOX version, and it had incredible shadow and lightning effects and attention to detail...
I don't know what's wrong with it, never played it. Just heard the thief vets say that it's the worst one of the lot but I still bought it anyway since it looked awesome and I bought Thief Gold here during the second round sale. Always been interested in the games.
Crazy question, I just saw an article where Russian subway passengers were allowed to pay for their tickets by performing squats. If you could buy a game doing burpees, how many would you be willing to do to get a game here at GOG? Challenge maybe issued.

Khalaq: AoW has a decent storyline, and it's a fun HOMM-type game.
AoW II is a bit more polished than the first, has a more involved storyline, but some prefer the first one.
AoW II Shadow Magic isn't as well-developed story-wise, but has "more to it" than AoW II. Those who play multiplayer prefer it for obvious reasons. If you want the most "advanced" game in the series, AoW:SM is it.
avatar
JohnnyDollar: So multiplayer is where is really shines? I take it head to head (1vs3) in single player you think 3 edges 1 it out?
Multiplayer, I'd take SM hands down. For single player, though, I would get 2 for the storyline and campaigns. Even as a single player, however, I wouldn't want to pass up SM as it brings even more variables to the strategic table than AoW2 did.

If you are into the Thief games, the first two of them are like getting 100 on a test. Some think that the third is like getting a 90. Still really, really good, but in the context of the series it's a bit of a downgrade.

I thought it was good for a sequel. There are many other ways the game could have failed, like how some sequels in other series had in the past...
Good grief, this is how addicted and obsessive GOG has made me.

Buenro-games: Is Thief 3 suppose to be the best of the series or Thief 2? I was really only planning on going 1+2, but if it's the best one I might as well get 3. Supposedly it's coming up next.
IMO the absolute overall best Thief game is Dark Mod (it's free, here's the link: http://www.thedarkmod.com/main/ ). But of the original trilogy, definitely the first 2 are the ones people remember the series for. The 3rd one is kind of like a reboot, not bad but a little different.

Briareos262: Stephen King =P I loved his early books.......then I got bored later after Needful Things and such.
avatar
Buenro-games: Under the Dome was a real fun book to read, I was fixated by it and finished it in a couple of days (non stop reading) even though it is quite long ( it is up to par with his two other longest novels The Stand and It). i highly recommend it. Oh, and ignore that TV series BS.

Also his online novel The Plant is mesmerizing and awesomely chilling. Give that one a try, very unique perspective in that it is told by a series of old manuscripts, letters, journals, etc. Awesome stuff. (Though not yet finished)
Yeah Under The Dome did look interesting. I might check it out someday. Long books don't scare me. I loved It and The Stand so much I reread them twice in my youth ^_^

DukeDuvel: Alright alright, finally found one more suitable and original. Though I love the startopia avatars... wonder what the avatar of Jack Keane would look like.

Chevette: A stopped clock.
Or a non-stop watch, because The Keaning is eternal.
avatar
JohnnyDollar: I'm thinking that the Thief fans actually prefer the first 2 over the 3rd one.
avatar
Buenro-games: Yeah, I kind of had that notion going through my head. Will stick to plan and get 1+2 probably. Thanks/
Yes, get the first two, at that price they really are a "steal"=). Thief 3 seem to be more of a linear game, the first game is pretty hard if you´re not used to that type of games. Not sure about the third one, but the first one does not give you a map of the entire level, you only get a rough idea of them. The map is presented as a parchment and it totally makes the game more immersive, the sound and all the chatter from the guards does this as well=).

Nothing like building up a little sweat before cramming yourself into the tube.

Three monitors is where it's at, that's what we have at work, at least. (I make do with two at home :p)
