Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

mantarrochen: Hey, this is Age Of Wonders 3, right? This is actually a good game, I think Im going to buy it now.
No, it's not Age of Wonders 3, it's the add-on of the second game in the series. AoW3 is due out in 2014. Try also the first one, i still play it!

The first one. I would like the second one as well but story wise I wanted to begin with the first one.

Briareos262: Stephen King =P I loved his early books.......then I got bored later after Needful Things and such.

Buenro-games: Under the Dome was a real fun book to read, I was fixated by it and finished it in a couple of days (non stop reading) even though it is quite long ( it is up to par with his two other longest novels The Stand and It). i highly recommend it. Oh, and ignore that TV series BS.

Also his online novel The Plant is mesmerizing and awesomely chilling. Give that one a try, very unique perspective in that it is told by a series of old manuscripts, letters, journals, etc. Awesome stuff. (Though not yet finished)
I have a copy of Under the Dome that I've not started yet as the TV show was so ghastly I couldn't stand it. Glad to hear it's on par with The Stand and It... those are my two favorite books by King!

Alien8n: Speaking of authors, anyone else got authors they absolutely loved and then went "meh, I can't be bothered" with later books?

I can think of a few off the top of my head, Piers Anthony and Stephen Donaldson spring to mind straight away.

In comparison I still love pretty much anything written by Pratchett, Brooks and Feist :)

bew1977: I made it through the first 15-20 Xanth novels and it just dropped off the face of the earth for me after that.
Same here, I dropped the Xanth series after it got really cringeworthy. I mean seriously, a book about the colour of a girl's underwear? Like that's not going to shout out "I'm a perv" or anything :/

Wikipedia says it's the third game, but AoW3 is actually in development.

Definitely, especially if you don't already know the story. It's sort of spoiled if you play 2 first.

ShadowWulfe: It didn't really do anything new with the genre, but it added some variety. I actually enjoyed it. My biggest memory was when my old Nvidia either couldn't handle it or got gummed up or something and started smoking and nearly cratered the entire computer.

To be fair, that may have been under Windows ME.
My brother had a graphics card spontaneously caught fire once.
It was brand new and he was stuck with his old one until a replacement was shipped.
Yay for warranties!
For all of you people without a photo for the forum, most of the games here come with an "Avatar" folder. ;-)

Is there any of the games on the lsit you want? I can buy them in the mean time too trade.
Once you buy it for me :)
Impulse bought Shadow Magic. Screenshots reminded me of HoMM IV, the first turn-based fantasy I ever played and still remember fondly (heresy, I know). Hope it's good. :-)

I take it you haven't read John Norman's "Gor" series then? ;)

Baldur's Gate is still up for Last Chance, so stick around in order to get it. Baldur's Gate 2, though, has sold out already. Buy it full price, if you can, later, or wait for the Christmas sale, they'll surely sell the D&D games at a discount, probably bundled together.

They just had to go and change everything that made the novel so gripping and turn it into an "for all audiences" thing in the TV. The book is gripping and doesn't pull any punches. Specially with the psycho kid "JR".
