Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Does anyone have a copy of Jack Keane 2 that could spare? I really wanted that game but when I looked to the side there were only 83 copies left and when I looked back... oh, nevermind, it was still stuck at 83 copies. For TWO AND A HALF goddamn hours.

Alien8n: Speaking of authors, anyone else got authors they absolutely loved and then went "meh, I can't be bothered" with later books?

I can think of a few off the top of my head, Piers Anthony and Stephen Donaldson spring to mind straight away.

In comparison I still love pretty much anything written by Pratchett, Brooks and Feist :)
Katheryn Kurtz quitting in the middle of the Deryni series, Melanie Rawn quitting two of hers...
I'm worried that this promo is making people resent certain games.

Chevette: At least he knew he was dying and left copious notes and outlines to follow for finishing it. Still sad that he died before finishing though.

DalamarNL: True. The last chapter(s) were pretty much already set. I can imagine though having to follow the outlines from RJ made writing the books a bit more difficult for BS.
Really loved the ending, not sure what everybody else's opinion is.
I had continued to buy the books faithfully for a while but had stopped reading at 7 I think, so I could finish them all after they were finished. But it's been so long that I'd have to go back and start over, and I still have the last three books to buy as I was broke for a while and raising a kid and had more important things to spend money on than a series I wasn't reading.

One day I'll buy the rest and read the entire thing.
Anyone willing too trade for Tomb Raider Trilogy? I have too get up early tomorrow.
I'm willing too trade for any of these games at the smae price as TBT

Stephen King =P I loved his early books.......then I got bored later after Needful Things and such.

Yeah, that is the sad part. Many are good games, just over saturated market at the moment.

Velgor: I try to do that as much as possible. I've had authors quit in the middle of a series I liked, or passed on before finishing. It's frustrating to a reader! I really dislike picking up a new series due to the waiting for the next. For instance, my wife and I didn't start the Harry Potter series until I think book three was out. We quickly caught up of course, but at least we didn't have those extra couple of years to wait like we would have had at the beginning.

Chevette: David Gerrold quitting in the middle of the War Against the Chtorr series was horrible. Why!? Why did he do that. *sobs* I'll never understand.
Gerrold hasnt discontinued that series.

The Wheel of Time FPS? I thought it wasn't bad.

He hasn't officially disconitnued it, but he hasn't written another in the last 20 years and has said he doesn't know when he'll finish it. :(

Whoops after reading the above post now I'm excited! Time to dig up my copies of the first 4 and read them first! Thanks!

Evidently I had given up too soon and hadn't looked around enough lately!

Ok, this thread now has more posts than the 'Word Association Game'. Since 400 posts actually.

Will it reach 30k?

I made it through the first 15-20 Xanth novels and it just dropped off the face of the earth for me after that.

I did wonder that too, but I don't think that'll be the case. I wouldn't let a game taking a long time to sell cause me to resent a game, but I loved reading the thread, and all the jokes about certain games taking ages.. :)
