Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Khalaq: After reading the posts of people who grabbed an extra copy of Nexus, and the other posts of people complaining that they missed it after waiting and waiting, I'm surprised I haven't seen some posts saying "Thanks for saving my day by gifting me your extra copy."

Is it possible that no one is trying to help out those who missed their wanted game? That doesn't sound like the GOG community I'm familiar with.
I wouldn't be surprised if the thread is starting to move faster and faster, what with the nickname contest and all the stuff.

Gunsik: um... i have only one copy... so lets do a contest. write your knight sobriquet

Stooner: What is a "sobriquet"?
it is something like nickname. for example Alexander the great or Bloody Mary. contest is over but i would gladly here Your sobriquet too.

background26: Games I bought in order

- Leisure Suit Larry Greatest Hits and Misses
- The Lords of Midnight
- Defenders' Quest
- Tales of Monkey Island
- Sacred Gold
- Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
- Resonance

This sale is very successful as I would not have bought any of the games above without discounts. Would not even bother to look at Resonance, Nexus or Monkey Island in normal circumstances.

I want
1. Expeditions: Conquistador
2. King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY
3. Theme Hospital
4. Tropico 3 Gold Ed
5. Alpha Centauri

Would consider those Spellforce games if they pop up.

It is 1am Monday morning now but I could not bear to sleep!
Larry is funny and I remember the second one the most since that one had some really funny moments. The fist one was probably the first Sierra game I played and I can remember some fun parts in it even today. It´s not a long game if you don´t get stuck (the remake is easier than the old version though) and it´s a pretty good game to start with if you never played those kind of games before (where you have a parser).

The other games I only read about mostly so I can´t tell you if they are good or not, only that many are considered as classics=).

Well I guess it could be worse... it could be Jacke Keane 2 again.

Spellforce 1 was better than 2 imo. Think Command & Conquer with spells :)

Indeed! Let's hope those two are last. :)

thorton70: I am usually part of the "no-steam-no-buy" and was hesitant to even buy from GoG until I saw they had a GoG downloader. I think people have become accustomed to having their entire library in the cloud available to them. It is extremely convenient.

Even now with all the indie game sites we have what, 5 or 6 sites that currently list our downloads/keys. No guarantee that they will persists as Steam/GoG will. I have already bought games on GoG here that I had on some random Indie bundle site somewhere else but without the interface to aggregate all my games and see what I own it was impossible for me to know I had already purchased it without actually going to each site and clicking on each bundle link. (This was for survivor)

I think you will start to see people move towards aggregates as this becomes more or an issue, particularly when we are all buying 5-10 games a month through Indie bundles or sales. This is likely the reason Humble and to an extend other indie bundles have moved towards having steam keys available.
avatar
johnnygoging: create a humble bundle account and you can aggregate all your bundles to your account. no better time to do this now than with the humble store going legit.
That is true, but it only lists the name of the bundle. It does not provide me with a list of games and of course does not give me my games from Indiebundle, Indieroyal, indiegala, bundlestars, bundle-in-a-box, (which are steam game bundles) and all the other non-steam bundle sites of which their are even more.

The only point I'm making is people will move towards an aggregator because it's easier and with cloud download service places like Steam and GoG (particularly if they extend the "backup" service they had with Withcer) will likely be dominant for the simple reason that it makes it easier for people to go a list of games they have and be like "oh, I already have Survivor here, sweet I don't have to buy it at BundleHeveanForCharityAndCountry website.com. Even people who love DRM free will likely embrace a model where they have cloud access to their games in an aggregate from all the sites they buy them from.

groze: All you guys out there that didn't get the game(-s) you wanted: GOG's Christmas sale is soon upon us, and they'll have price cuts that usually go down to 75-80%, so don't despair. There will also probably be a few freebies for the taking, lasting days and not limited to a number.

To those on the fence about Resonance: if you like point and click adventure games and don't have this gem, be sure to grab it. If you are not particularly fond of point and clicks because you have no patience and/or find most of the puzzles and exploration downright impossible, rest assured, Resonance -- as well as the other Wadjet Eye-published games -- is a much more accessible adventure game than those of the bygone times, so, know that you'll probably enjoy it. It has an amazing story going for it, with great plot twists, engrossing characters and those kind of retro graphics that some of us find endearing and that are pretty well made and nail the feeling of the old LucasArts/Sierra point and click adventures.
yeah I can echo this. I have a couple Wadjet Eye Games. I haven't played any yet, but from what I have seen Let's Plays I have watched, they are absolutely amazing with what they produce on the budget that they do. They make some of the best adventure games being made. I'd get Resonance today but there's no room in my budget for it right now if what with the christmas Steam sale coming and gog as well. And I still haven't played my other games from Wadjet Eye Games.

This particular game is also considered of their best so that's pretty good as well.

Missed two in a row due to having to sleep? You, Sir, are exactly the person I've been waiting for. I have your copy right here. (Wish I could have afforded more copies, but...)
