Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Tolmar: Thank-you kind Sir. Polstead is actually the village I grew up in, in Suffolk county, England.
So small that many people in the nearest town (4 miles away) have not heard of it,
Removed from PM: Sir Christian of Eberle, Pilliars of the proud country of Prussia (Germany, my real name, btw. With a Sir added on.) (Part 1)
(part 2)
I did a lot of family last name research thanks to family members being into it. I also had a great grandfather johnston of the johnston clan in scotland, and the nielson (now nelson) family(no clue about ancestry there, other then scandanavian) 1/2 german, all from dad, and scots and vikings from mom. pretty cool when you think about it. :-)

My submission :-)

Khalaq: So how many people (thus far) were waiting for Nexus and missed it?
avatar
AttObl: Quite a bit, including me.
I feel guilty for not buying a few extra copies of Nexus, now. I was considering it, but I've bought so much already.

background26: Games I bought in order

- Leisure Suit Larry Greatest Hits and Misses
- The Lords of Midnight
- Defenders' Quest
- Tales of Monkey Island
- Sacred Gold
- Nexus - The Jupiter Incident
- Resonance

This sale is very successful as I would not have bought any of the games above without discounts. Would not even bother to look at Resonance, Nexus or Monkey Island in normal circumstances.

I want
1. Expeditions: Conquistador
2. King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY
3. Theme Hospital
4. Tropico 3 Gold Ed
5. Alpha Centauri

Would consider those Spellforce games if they pop up.

It is 1am Monday morning now but I could not bear to sleep!
So Monday is already creeping up on us from the other side of the globe...

Buenro-games: I am still really just waiting for Jade and Thief, but the hype in the forum let me to investigate a bit about Nexus, decided I might want it but POOF!
I went ahead and clicked "buy now" while I went off to investigate. When I came back GoG was "out," but I still got the game at $1.99. Checked my bank just to be sure.

groze: I have absolutely *nothing* against Humble Bundles. Nor against Steam -- or, should I say, the people that choose to use Steam, since I do not endorse Steam myself.

Humble Bundles are great chances to get great games cheap, and that's a good thing, not a bad one, at least in my book. The problem is that more often than not the games you get from the Bundles are Steam copies, and, like I said, though I have absolutely nothing against those who use Steam, I'm not keen on their services and I openly choose not to use them. That's just me, it's my prerogative and I think I'm entitled to it.

The reasons I don't use Steam are mainly the fact that I live outside the US in a country in which Steam doesn't do currency exchange (a game may cost $3 on Steam and $4 on GOG, but the GOG copy is actually cheaper for me because I'd have to pay €3 for the Steam game and only €2-ish for the GOG one), I'm actively against DRM, even if it is "light" DRM such as the one Steam forces upon its consumers, and, most of all, I like *owning* my games, as opposed to *renting* them, and Steam games are not yours even though you pay for them. Every single game I bought here on GOG is mine to keep and do whatever I please with it.

Also, regarding that last couple of sentences, did you know the EU Court passed a law deeming *renting services to play games and not actually selling them to the customers* illegal? That's right, and there's already one impending lawsuit against Steam forming in Germany, that I know of, and several smaller cases of that happening locally, here in Portugal.
Actually Humble Bundles usually give you BOTH DRM-Free versions of games and Steam/Desura Keys. Only a very few of them, the ones that are specifically themed to a single company/developer (like the Humble THQ Bundle, the Humble Deep Silver Bundle or the actual Humble WB Bundle) were Steam-only. You can count them on the fingers of a single hand. And since you can choose how to divide your contribution, you can do as i do. When the bundle is Steam-only, i simply choose "all to charity" on my donation.
Resonance is a good game has an excellent plot why people is complaining about it!!!
Is that Nexus game like a sinlge player EVE Online or something?

I, for one, don't buy stuff on impulse without knowing what I buy. Therefore I have always researched in advance whatever I find intriguing in order to make the decision. From then on it's just waiting :)
Welp, after a day and a half of waiting since I missed it last, finally got my copy of nexus.

Now I can just relax and become a casual sale watcher :)

Nah, don't worry about it.

My first goal (System Shock 2) is obtained already, so not that big of a loss... *Also looks at Tropico 3, Sword of the Stars: The Pit, and Total Annihilation Kingdoms*

Gunsik: um... i have only one copy... so lets do a contest. write your knight sobriquet
What is a "sobriquet"?

Buenro-games: Is that Nexus game like a sinlge player EVE Online or something?
That's what it looked like to me. Which isn't actually a bad thing.

zlep: A lot of people here are very supportive of Humble Bundle.

As for the negativity... remember that much of the GOG community prizes DRM-free as a thing of value. Humble started out looking as if they valued it too, but more recently have switched to heavy usage of Steam keys, even for some games that are readily available in DRM-free form. That choice has improved Humble's reputation among Steam fans, particularly the "no-Steam-no-buy" crowd, but has reduced it among DRM-free supporters. Swings and roundabouts. It's hard to be popular with everyone at once.

thorton70: I am usually part of the "no-steam-no-buy" and was hesitant to even buy from GoG until I saw they had a GoG downloader. I think people have become accustomed to having their entire library in the cloud available to them. It is extremely convenient.

Even now with all the indie game sites we have what, 5 or 6 sites that currently list our downloads/keys. No guarantee that they will persists as Steam/GoG will. I have already bought games on GoG here that I had on some random Indie bundle site somewhere else but without the interface to aggregate all my games and see what I own it was impossible for me to know I had already purchased it without actually going to each site and clicking on each bundle link. (This was for survivor)

I think you will start to see people move towards aggregates as this becomes more or an issue, particularly when we are all buying 5-10 games a month through Indie bundles or sales. This is likely the reason Humble and to an extend other indie bundles have moved towards having steam keys available.
create a humble bundle account and you can aggregate all your bundles to your account. no better time to do this now than with the humble store going legit.
Is jade empire done with?
what came after SSzero?
