Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

KMJX: Grabbed an extra NEXUS too, maybe someone will need it... and maybe someone managed to pick up an extra Sacred Gold earlier?

smoother: Maybe we can open a trade thread when Insane Insomnia Promo is over.
Great idea. I've got at least one to trade for sure, and have been gifting all my purchases since Friday to myself, just in case I want to trade them instead. Or give away to some lucky forum user.
goddamn! nooooo! Just took a nap fo an hour or so, because i really couldn't stay awake longer. And what happens? I have bad luck and miss Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. wuhaawuahhhhh :-(((
NO!!! I missed Nexus :'(

tw: They should enable captcha for free games. Damn script ninjas.
Ha! I have a better chance against the script ninjas than against the captcha ninjas. I fail HARD at captcha.

drhome91: Planescape Tornment was in the Last Chance?

P.S.
Sorry for any language issue;)
I think it's still on the "to come" list.

groze: I have absolutely *nothing* against Humble Bundles. Nor against Steam -- or, should I say, the people that choose to use Steam, since I do not endorse Steam myself.

Humble Bundles are great chances to get great games cheap, and that's a good thing, not a bad one, at least in my book. The problem is that more often than not the games you get from the Bundles are Steam copies, and, like I said, though I have absolutely nothing against those who use Steam, I'm not keen on their services and I openly choose not to use them. That's just me, it's my prerogative and I think I'm entitled to it.

The reasons I don't use Steam are mainly the fact that I live outside the US in a country in which Steam doesn't do currency exchange (a game may cost $3 on Steam and $4 on GOG, but the GOG copy is actually cheaper for me because I'd have to pay €3 for the Steam game and only €2-ish for the GOG one), I'm actively against DRM, even if it is "light" DRM such as the one Steam forces upon its consumers, and, most of all, I like *owning* my games, as opposed to *renting* them, and Steam games are not yours even though you pay for them. Every single game I bought here on GOG is mine to keep and do whatever I please with it.

Also, regarding that last couple of sentences, did you know the EU Court passed a law deeming *renting services to play games and not actually selling them to the customers* illegal? That's right, and there's already one impending lawsuit against Steam forming in Germany, that I know of, and several smaller cases of that happening locally, here in Portugal.

BlueLemon: I didn't know that (the info in the last paragraph), thanks for that. :)
Yeah, I'm hoping the german case goes the way of the consumer. I would like the ability to sell unwanted games. You could have the price set as less than the sale price up to that point. It could also operate the same as selling Trading Cards, valve and the publisher get a cut,

Still to come.

CorranHorn: No not another title that many probably owns (I own it here on Humble Bundle).
avatar
Shendue: I don't remember Resonance ever being on Humble Bundle. I would have, which i don't.
Yes, I looked for it but couldn´t find it, edited my post after that. Must have been another site, I´m certain I own more than one copy of it=).
The games remaining list is actually starting to look pretty decent. If you took off Lucius, Cognition (which actually looks good) and Omerta, then the sale might actually go at a better pace. Then again, it all depends on the amount of copies allocated.

I missed Planescape? :( :(

BHTrellis: Ok, I give up. Things to do, places to go, people to kill.

Looks like no NWN for me. But thanks for the ride, GoG. Happy I at least got Anvil of Dawn and Sacred Gold cheap.

Why, oh why does GoG not allow logins on my android phone?
Hmm, I've had no issues logging in on my android tablet...

zarquon: Resonance is actually a really good game, but point-and-click adventures do seem to sell slowly during this promo, so you could be right...
avatar
groze: They sell slowly, but steadily. Point and clicks were always a niche genre, to a degree (I'm a point and click adventure gamer myself), so there's not that many people willing to invest in one of them. Fortunately, the GOG community has a lot of point and click gamers. Unfortunately, most of us already own Resonance. Which is, by the way, a great game, much like all other Wadjet Eye published titles.
I agree. I loved the Blackwell series. Part 5 is coming out soon I hear.

According to the list, nope.
