Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Cardian: We're in the same boat here. I kind of don't have the energy to go hunting after beating the champion this time around... probably because there are too many awesome games. Just got Bravely Default...
avatar
Faenwulf: Yeah, i just got System Shock 2, WC Privateer, WC4, Aquanox 1+2,...
Oh, you know the drill... :D

Got no other games for my 3ds except Pokemon X since I only bought it a week or so ago.
Rune Factory 4, go! :P

I liked this Pokemon this time around, felt it was a bit more "involved" then last ones, but I could be wrong.
Tom you gotta come outta the closet like OHMYGAD 25copies left!

Shendue: Well, if you don't like it you don't like it. Everybody keeps telling me ICO is great and i think it's boring as hell.
Just a matter of personal taste, i guess. But that doesn't mean the game is bad. It's just not your cup of tea, probably.

SpiderFighter: It bugs the hell out of me, frankly. That's why I keep installing it. :P
Sorry, what's ICO?
A Playstation 2 game, highly praised for its atmosphere, that i think is boring as fuck.

techknight1337: Oh, I loved space sims back in the day, but I was completely into the X-Wing series and completely missed the Wing Commander series. :)
avatar
Cardian: Somehow I couldn't get into X-Wing. I loved Tie Fighter, though. *zooooooooom*
The Empire is more alluring than the Rebel Alliance, I mean they have a bloody Stardestroyer, who can resist that=). Homeworld had a mod that changed the units to units from Star Wars, awesome game by the way if you like RTS=).

groze: Really. Especially since I'm guessing THE BUNDLE comes with Steam codes for the games and Arkham games on Steam are among the most DRM-ey titles out there, from what I've been told.

And when all's said and done, $10 for System Shock is still a better deal, those games don't hold a candle to any of the classics in here.

johnnygoging: I've just learned recently that steam has drm-free titles in the sense that some titles don't enforce the drm, which is really good. and yes, drm sucks, but steam has a lot on offer besides that drm, the excellent prices not the least. I still prefer gog of course, but I think that sometimes the some of the stuff towards steam and especially humble bundle can be going too far.
IMO, the only good thing about steam is the game overlay. I like being able to open up a browser or chat with friends while playing, particularly for games that don't deal with alt+tab well.

Yep, I feel like the storytelling was much better done this time around.
Especially since the kids were 16 this time, not 12 or so.

Cardian: Or gifted to strangers on the forums.

Beelzebubb: or sat in the users account page never played because they only bought it for nostalgia reasons

*looks at 90% of games in account*
Yeah...many not even installed. And how many of them are one of multiple copies owned? Guilty as charged.

LOL, totally true. I actually TRIED to play some games I was playing some decades ago and, yeah, can't get into them anymore. I'm pretty sure it's 1) the outdates graphics and 2) I've already downloaded the soundtrack :P

It's by Team ICO who later went on to make Shadow of the Colossus, another great game (yeah, I love ICO, too) and will hopefully finish development on Last Guardian by 2056....

ahab: It's a limited item sale they can only sell so much ;)
You haven't actually understood anything I've said. By extending the sale past the weekend you lose your target audience. This loses goodwill in the community. It makes no sense to extend a sale that far, they're better off dropping the quantities in this case so that they still hit the target finish date and time. That increase goodwill, increases word of mouth and increases future sales.

In retail the customer experience is everything. I've done business analysis for more years than I can remember setting up and analysing sales campaigns. Sales like this one are basically my bread and butter. Selling as cheap as possible while screwing up the customer experience may work for Ryanair but it doesn't work when you are one out of dozens of websites doing the same thing.
Wonder what's next :P
YAY Privateer!
So what did I miss in between Rayman and Privateer?
