Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Hey all
Nearly 3am local time here (Aussie), and I'm still waiting for some titles to pop up for last chance. If they pop up in the next 6 hours and some awesome person could nab a gift copy for me, and I pay back via paypal?
Can we do that?

SpiderFighter: I dunno what to say. I bought it, and I want to like it so badly that I've tried playing it three different times, but I just get bored and end up playing something else.

I wish I could be as excited as everyone else, and I realize I'm in the minority.
Don't be sad.
I feel exactly like that with 'timeless classics' like BG or Icewind Dale. (or NWN if you want to count that in, too)
Everyone here hates me for that.

SpiderFighter: YMMV. Miami Hotline has good reviews but it's not for everyone. In my opinion, it has a great style, but boring game play. Kill someone. Advance. Kill someone else. Advance. It's GTA on rails, only without the sandbox. Also, it makes me feel like I'm on a bad acid trip and that's a memory I don't want to revisit.
I actually loved the gameplay, it's very unlike GTA, and not boring at all. It plays like a puzzle game, if anything, thanks to the "1 hit kill" mechanic. Also very replayable since it's score-based.
And if you missed the metareferences in the story, you missed the best part of the game. The story has not to be taken literally, it's completely metaphorical and metareferential.

SpiderFighter: Same here. I had friends who were really into flight sims (and submarine and space sims) when they came out, but I was too busy working on my BBS and playing Wolfenstein 3D (and other FPSes). GOG has given me a chance to discover what they were all raving about back in the day.

techknight1337: Oh, I loved space sims back in the day, but I was completely into the X-Wing series and completely missed the Wing Commander series. :)
X-Wing!! Yes! There's another series I've always wanted to play!

Pretty please, GOG?

johnnygoging: people are crapping on Keane but from what's around about it, it isn't an awful game. Its main low points is the user interface and the pacing. however reviews have positively talked about the game's visuals and humour. It's not as good as number 1 but number 1 was generally considered a good game.
avatar
npalsensei: You mean the GOG reviews? xP
i think some of the best keane headliners of the 5 star reviews of the keaneing were :

"JACK KEANE OFF? WHAT A DEAL."
+
"Citizen Keane"
+
"Cured my son!"

Almost everything can become a showstopper if the number is too high.

ahab: Your opening point was

"This. Especially as it's looking increasingly likely that this will roll into Monday and some people have to work. As a result if the game they're after is missed they go away with a negative experience."

Which can be applied to any time
No, it can't. I know it's hard to get around if you don't work in eCommerce but if you want to maximise sales you don't run promotions mid-week. You're selling to people who work or are at school/college/university. To maximise your target audience you run the promotion over a weekend. It does not benefit an internet retailer to run a sales campaign past the weekend and into the following week.

teshra: Happy 25000 people. Take the night off, you've earned it!
But..but...if people take the night off, I'll NEVER get the last two games on my list!!

Soldier on, people! We've got nothing to lose but sleep, jobs, relationships, and a good credit rating. I'd add sanity to that list, but I know I lost mine several days ago...

Now get out there and BUY! ;)

Pretty much this. I loved the story. Had a very surreal theme to it as did the overall atmosphere of the game. That made it even better.

MasterofClassics: Has anyone else played Tachyon the Fringe? That is one heck of a space combat game.
avatar
CorranHorn: Yes but only played the demo so far (do own the game that I bought at a sale on a local website), will play this (as I so often say about most of my games=)) when I have the time. A game starring the actor who said "Hail to the king baby" can´t be bad, Army of Darkness rules!=)
Awesome! Its well worth the time. From what I remember as a kid the acting and atmosphere were really good too. Some of the missions were scary as anything by the hype they put into it (which has no doubt to do with me being so young) and overall I really felt invested in the world and the character.

Alien8n:
It's a limited item sale they can only sell so much ;)
avatar
CorranHorn: I haven´t played them but I´ve read about them, that depends on if you want an open world game or more of a story driven one.
avatar
Idonoghue: Alright. Well if there isn't really a huge difference in quality I think I will just stick with my WC 4 I bought.
I would´ve bought it if I could afford it, but the game I´m after is Thief 2. I will get all the WC games, can´t wait until Cloud Imperium Games releases the playable dog fighting module for Star Citizen, the game I´m most eager to play along Elite : Dangerous. I need to go to the future, any one know of a way to do this=)?
Ironic. The only day off I get in the week, Sundays, and I have no time to watch the sales all day. LOT of things to do. And I can't log into GoG on my android. Damn. Guess I'll miss Neverwinter Nights Diamond again too.

Crap. Well, that's just the way my luck goes.
