Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Cardian: That is actually a great idea... I guess... don't know if I trust my sanity. I don't even know where it is right now...

Alien8n: Cthulhu says thank you for the meal...
Cthulhu slumbers eternal. The Keaning wakes eternal.

BHTrellis: Fell asleep on Fez and now it's Wing Commander. Anything I miss?

Any more freebies that I had no chance in hell of getting?
Only Strike Suit Zero and Aquanox, with Chaos Engine in between as freebie.
Actually managed to grab one, guess there's not as many people following the sale anymore.

johnnygoging: That isn't why Gianna Sisters goes quickly. It goes quickly because I don't think it has been that discounted before.

Privateer is old. And that's part of what is causing it to be slow. In addition, Privateer, is sort of a big style game. And that hurts it a bit when later big games are even bigger. It's still selling pretty darn quickly.
Actually, if you look at the evidence of sales speed, the indies have been at a considerable disadvantage against the "old" games. 3rd round Privateer has been put up with 750 copies. Are you seriously suggesting Giana Sisters could have sold that many without taking hours?

ahab: I know this may be surprising for you but some people work at the weekend
And some people work nights. The majority of people work 9-5 day jobs Monday - Friday hence why nearly every online sale happens on a weekend. You want to sell something on eBay? Make sure the sale ends at about 4pm on Sunday.

johnnygoging: people are crapping on Keane but from what's around about it, it isn't an awful game. Its main low points is the user interface and the pacing. however reviews have positively talked about the game's visuals and humour. It's not as good as number 1 but number 1 was generally considered a good game.
You mean the GOG reviews? xP
Dammit!! I go out for two hours and miss Chaos Engine. I would have been so happy to get my hands on it... Oh well, at least I didn't miss BG or PS:T.

Suloyapla: Again, you still have yours?
Haven't seen it in a while. I don't want to think about what that means, though. I feel better that way. Now for some rituals...
good morning. has thief 2 gone yet?
snatch!

Idonoghue: Which is a better game WC 4 or privateer?
avatar
CorranHorn: I haven´t played them but I´ve read about them, that depends on if you want an open world game or more of a story driven one.
Alright. Well if there isn't really a huge difference in quality I think I will just stick with my WC 4 I bought.

Lucky :P I was right there to click and missed it. Like almost all of the times I tried it tho.

shadowbaneaxe: In a way, these larger numbers of copies make it easier for the more casual GOG-ers to snatch a copy of a game that they want. The first 2 rounds passed so quickly it would've been much harder to be around at the right time for a specific game. I can imagine that some people might complain for not being given a fair chance to get the game they wanted.

Of course, the most popular games are still gone in minutes, despite the higher number of copies. It's only the weird/niche/not so good games that stall for a significant amount of time.
well privateer doesn't fit any of those categories. so it's just good in general. this sale is getting a bit long and people are looking toward the christmas sales. I also think that those who have spent on impulse have done their impulse spending and are looking for something specific.

northern7: good morning. has thief 2 gone yet?
Nope! Waiting for that one, myself

ahab: People base whether to tell people about a site based on one promo? fuck me

You would think it would be for the work they put in to making old games work on new systems...should of known it's down to the sales
Nope, people base wheter to tell people about a site on their general experience. The better the experience, the better they talk about it. And it's not like everyone is a gog fan. Most people are gonna login to GOG just for the sales like this one.
