Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

snip3rfire: As an Aussie, can I just say this sale really doesn't favour us!

When we go to sleep this sale seems to speed up, and when we wake up this sale seems to come to a halt. Really not in our favour!
i know exactly what you mean.

Saturation
After mbunkin was so awesome to gift me The Chaos Engine, I think I'll use this rather unexpected phase of Keaning to download and play it ^_^

Faenwulf: People, I am shocked and appaled.
How come that one of the absolute old tiem clasics is keaning on us?
HOW?!
Because like many other games on the list, it's been in rotation twice already and is over-saturated, selling 750 copies doesn't help.

Cardian: To be fair, it had ups and downs all day today.
Today for me was mostly Hotline Miami (took ages to get rid of...), and I can't even remember what else because they also dragged on. Lucky if we covered 6 or so games in so many hours.

Tonight for me has been a bit better, but I guess that's because a lot of people in the US have just woken up.
Honestly i think three passes was too many in this sale.

Or atleast the third pass should have been only the really, really popular sellers from the other two rounds.

groze: Now this is a complaint I can relate too and find legitimate. People complaining about not getting Don't Starve when it stalled for hours, people raging about not getting Thunderscape and Retro City Rampage when those titles stood there for almost half a day, combined. If those guys missed them, they have no one else to blame but themselves.

But this I understand, this seems in fact unfair, AquaNox went *fast*. Granted, not Neverwinter Nights fast, but, still, for the game it is, selling in around the 5 minute mark is pretty fast.

Good sir/gentle madam, I feel your pain.

Cardian: That's how I felt about Giana Sisters. I watched an episode when, whatever slowseller was before that, was in the 20s, looked away, turned back after 15 minutes and saw that Rayman was on. Didn't even realize that Giana Sisters was up and wouldn't have thought that it goes so fast.
Giana Sisters went fast because GOG only put up 200 (?) copies, not 600. GOG is largely determining the speed of individual titles, based on their own whims. We can but guess at the mysterious workings behind the Keaning...
It's funny. "Lunch-break" games have become my companions during this sale, especially Tower of Guns (https://indiegamestand.com/) , which has a very old-school Quake feel to me. It just seems right that I'm playing a game with an old-school vibe while casually monitoring a GOG sale.

So I take it that particular term has pretty much lost all meaning now? I'd say it's selling at a pretty decent rate for a third run.

Actually, I was awake with you guys for most of it. :-)

Why? they are still selling and the sale has a set amount of units or a time limit of "fall"

As many other titles:
1) People who loved it probably already had it.
2) I´m not sure, but the game should have been in other sales, narrowing down the numbers.
3) Then even if there´s people interested which don´t own it, there were rounds 1 or 2.

I seriously think this sale should have stopped after round 2, and that´s said by somebody who has bought a game on 3rd round and gotten a freebie. Unless the game is too new, or too famous, there´s no way to sell so many units in that short amount of time.

For example, I personally got Rayman Origins less than an month ago on another sale. That means one person less on this sale...
Why are some games that only where on disks the size of a CD?
