Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

micartu: F**k!!!!!!!!! Server problems during Baldur's Gate 2!

A second round?
I bought it, but my payment didn't go through because of "temporary technical issues"...Grrrr.
Dang, I'm really bummed that I've been missing out on this since I've been at work. :( Good news for my wallet, bad news for me as I ponder all the awesomeness I missed!
Book of Unwritten Tales; when all else fails, put a scantily clad elf lady in the cover.

jhkrischel: Yeah, I've had the same result - at this point, the 5 seconds it takes me to put in my payment info is apparently too long. They should've worked out some sort of queuing system so that once you click, you've got a reservation for that deal, that only gets revoked if you don't finish the payment screen in say, 5 minutes.

ThunderStriker: That's strange. When I saved Retro City Rampage in a new tab I was able to purchase the game at its discount, that was after the counter on the main page moved onto another game.
For one, the promo moved on whilst I was still going through PayPal, but it still went through fine - I'm assuming that after you reach a certain point, it is actually considered "reserved".
It has been quite a long time that gog has not make such a fail on communication with his customer. After the "we close our service joke", here is the "look at the amazing price you wont have because there is no stock for each game and the server cannot handle the charge". Time to think about what you are doing before actually doing it, dont you think ?
well no freebies but I got Ultima 7 and NwN diamond, neither of which Ive played :)

Melhelix: If your payment went through you now own the game. Refresh at the bear page and it will acknowledge. If that fails use the account refresh. If that fails contact support after the sale is over. If money changed hands, the game is yours.
I wonder how they're going to handle the "a technical issue occurred with your payment, if you don't receive a confirmation within an hour" etc. etc... sort of issues.

Thanks for the advice, i refreshed the page but the game isn´t there. Guess that is for the huge flow of people that this happens. Already sent the mail to support, just waiting for the unlock of Riddick in my account.

sunshinecorp: I liked this sale but it has caused great suffering: people bought Omerta and Lucius...
avatar
RetroJaro: Apparently Omerta is a pretty good game.
People on GOG just seem to hate it because of the whole DLC thing, I imagine.
Saw a review of it from totalbiscuit. Looked all right to me.
I actually made the mistake of playing it on XBOX. It's not a good game, far from that. People wrote good reviews for Dragon Age 2, too. I don't trust reviews more than I can throw them, I only trust other gamers.

I had that occur on Jade. Refresh the page that says "temporary technical issues". It'll go through.
I had one better for the Geneforge free game. Got a 502 Gateway error. Overloaded gateway?

If you like rpgs, I think you are going to love both of them.

KoolZoid: Wow, even the forums crashed for me with those last couple of offers :)

Y'know, as mad and crazy as this sale thing has been, I've kinda had fun following this thread and seeing a lot of first-time posters here. Jourmey rather than the destination, sorta thing......
Agreed. I even find the bear funny.

Frostyfirefly: So, we're at game 100?
No, becuase over 15 games were on sale twice.
I actually bought Omerta
