Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Write them in Haiku form for extra experience points!
And once again, I am inclined to wonder who keeps giving the GOG person in charge of devising these numbers heavy amounts of cough syrup. Saturation is saturation, whether at 100 percent price or 10. Ultima Underworld just got through demonstrating that (and testing my sanity in the process). Someone should probably tell the numbers person to back away from the codeine, as it's causing them to make incredibly unrealistic business decisions.

Isn't it 5,7,5

yeah, I'm pretty sure it's 5,7,5 :P

EX-Deimon: I know what you mean, i've actually played SMB3 way more than SMW because I never got to own SMW till much later. SMW just improves on everything the previous ones did. Besides, Yoshi :P
You just gotta love that extra hit and jumping aid...err, I mean dinosaur companion. :)

mantarrochen: Would you mind telling what the keyboard layout while playing these games? Movement, Jump, Use, Magic attack and Special needs to be bound. In Rogue Legacy you only have the letter and arrow keys to bind to...

I think the most confusing is that WASD isnt for movement any more (with the default keys) I think I cant wrap my head around that. Also that UP means USE and for jumping you have an extra key.
avatar
Faeja_Vu: Assuming you're talking about side scrollers, I almost always use the arrow keys for movement. Jump varies game to game, sometimes it's the up arrow, other times I use space bar. For games that essentially have three "action" keys, so like attack, defend and jump I'll use zxc or asd usually. c/d being the attack hey, x/s jump, and z/a defend.

In the case of Rogue Legacy, without knowing more than I currently do (such as if there is a move up key for ladders), I would probably set it up as such:
Jump: Up arrow, Use: Z, Magic attack: X, Special: D (since apparently shift wouldn't be an option), and assuming there is a regular attack button too, that'd be C.

FoxySage: I loved Jazz Jackrabbit. It one of my top 5 platform games.

Faeja_Vu: I consider Jazz to be my very first game ever. Nearly two decades later and I still love it to death. Glad to see another Jazz fan, most times I mention it people have no clue what I'm talking about. :(
Same Jazz is a favorite too, I think it was my first platformer on PC

I have a suspicion that these numbers were set before the sale. GOG probably promised to sell a certain number of copies and distributed them, maybe randomly or by choice, I don't know. But these numbers were at the very least set by the time the game appeared in round 2 and more likely even before then.

GOG should totally get both titles here. And while doing it, it would be nice to have One Must Fall 2097, I loved that fighting game too. I still own a copy of all three around here in some old CDs, but it would be nice to have them here anyway.
