Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Minmataro: All this talk of old RPG. I have to ask why doesn't GoG have the old Gold box RPGs? like Pool of Radiance? are they under another name in a collection on this site? have we lost them forever?

Uzur9: Would love to see the Gold Boxes on here ;) If need try and find Gamefest Firgitten Reakns Classics [14 games 2 discs]
Amazon has the compilation for 78 something plus 5.99 shipping. oooo Expensive !!!
Oh okay, so you buy them as gifts and keep them around to trade then? Got it. Very interesting idea.

ElasmoFan: Definitely tempting, what are the differences between underworld and 7?
Substantial in that they have completely different perspectives: the main series is isometric and (mostly) party-based. The Underworld games are first person and involve only your character. (In both cases your character is the Avatar, naturally.)

However, the level of meaningful world interactivity is similar. In many ways the Underworlds are actually richer in this respect, although there are some things that each includes that the other doesn't.. Likewise, there's a very strong story and emphasis on character interaction underpinning both the Ultima 7s and the Underworlds. (Ultima Underworld 2's plot actually acts as a bridge between Ultima 7 and U7 part 2.)

N0w3gg: Just looked up King's Field (never heard of it), looks like fun. Doesn't seem to be on GoG, though.

deathmyrk: No, sadly its only on Playstation 1 and 2, and they have released reboots on PSP. They are very unique games. One of a kind really. It's like there are just so many variables to take in with each weapon, and the games have this sense of exploration. They are very dark in nature as well. The thing that is the Achille's heel is that the game require patience, especially The Ancient City, as it involves a lot of backtracking. If you are very curious, they have let's play videos on Youtube. I got into the games after playing Dark Souls, and I am never going to sell/get rid of those games. I have also heard of Moonlight Sword editor where fans have created a PC prequel to Kings Field that is free. I never tried it though, but it looks great.
On PSP...wow, I've actually got one of those. Thanks, going to look this up more!

What else are you going to do with a game that you don't really want but can't pass up because the price is too good to pass up?
Please anyone I'll pay AU$2 more, I really wanted that game :(

israr665: Does any one have a spare copy of shelter to trade ?

Interesting, thank you. I think I'll go ahead and pick it up then.

Minmataro: http://www.swordofmoonlight.com/games/

try them out.
Yea, I really have to try the Fall of Verdite. That sounds amazing. Dark Destiny and Diadem of Maunstraut also sound really interesting. I am definitely going to check them out. KF games really are great.

I actually did pass up on most of them. I bought several System Shock 2 copies though and forced my friends to experience Shodan! But only because I already had the game myself xD

marklinhares: Try Groupees

israr665: I get a lot of problems with groupees :(
I have one Steam key, if you have interest pm me.

A positively brilliant example of what to do with the games we really do enjoy, and the price is too good to pass up... :D
