Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

ElasmoFan: Do I really need Underworld though? I feel like 4 and 7 would already last me quite a while.
avatar
MadSweeney: Considering how many entries there are in the Ultima series, and the consistent level of quality across nearly every game, any time spent in Underworld (on top of 4 and 7) would be time well spent, in my opinion.
I dont think i would be the gamer i am today without Ultima 4+5+6 & 7. great games imo.

Revenile: The game also lets you write down your own notes on the map, only other game I've seen that on is daggerfall.

shadowknight2814: System Shock lets you make notes on the map as well.
Speaking of System Shock - Have you guys tried System Shock Portable?

Just stumbled over it earlier this night.

Just bought Ultima® Underworld 1+2, funny that the bonus content is bigger than the game haha, can't wait to play this first person crawler.

Briareos262: Lucasarts has always been stubborn and now that Disney owns them too, they just don't seem to care as well.. Blizz is very protective of the games so yeah its next to nil seeing them here.

Minmataro: Sad thing is Blizzard doesn't sell the original Diablo anymore. I looked and they took it out of their shop. I feel the same way about the first 2-3 Elder scrolls games. Let GoG have them, they can support them so everyone can enjoy those games.
Bethesda is still giving away Daggerfall and Arena:

Lol, guess I'm the third person to mention it.

Anyone wanna trade Witcher The Enchanced Edition for Tomb Raider Trilogy?
Has Shelter past yet or is it still to come, I hope I did not miss it.

Oh i have them but ive yet to get them to run with sound... ive tried and tried. If they were on GoG they would atleast be supported and i could get some help.
I'm probably gonna hate myself later, but I'm starting to cave on Ultima Underworld to go past my self-set budget and get it, though I think I need a little more persuasion to actually do it.

deathmyrk: Yea I was actually very surprised with Ultima Underworld. The screenshots do not give the game justice. Forever I have been looking for a PC game that can be comparable to King's Field. I mean, there is the elder scrolls series, but I always found there was something lacking. Ultima Underworld encapsulates a real sense of dread and desperation atypical of King's Field, but also pays huge nods to older dungeon crawlers. Anvil of Dawn is also a great game that provides likewise experience. I always wished From Software would rejuvenate KF, but with their "Souls" series, I can say that they have closed the chapter. Sad... But Ultima Underworld is most excellent.

N0w3gg: Just looked up King's Field (never heard of it), looks like fun. Doesn't seem to be on GoG, though.
No, sadly its only on Playstation 1 and 2, and they have released reboots on PSP. They are very unique games. One of a kind really. It's like there are just so many variables to take in with each weapon, and the games have this sense of exploration. They are very dark in nature as well. The thing that is the Achille's heel is that the game require patience, especially The Ancient City, as it involves a lot of backtracking. If you are very curious, they have let's play videos on Youtube. I got into the games after playing Dark Souls, and I am never going to sell/get rid of those games. I have also heard of Moonlight Sword editor where fans have created a PC prequel to Kings Field that is free. I never tried it though, but it looks great.

you missed it. and it did take a while to sell...
Well, no kidding... seems like it's dawning outside. :|

Think I've had enough for now. Looks like this will keep going for at least another day or so, so I'll check back in later and see if any of the games I've been waiting for are still available ( as part of the promo ).

Been pretty fun, though ( and I bought way too many games... I think after this promo I'll have to force myself to stay away from GOG for the rest of the month ). G' night everyone, and good luck with the ongoing hunt!
