Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Minmataro: All this talk of old RPG. I have to ask why doesn't GoG have the old Gold box RPGs? like Pool of Radiance? are they under another name in a collection on this site? have we lost them forever?
avatar
Uzur9: Would love to see the Gold Boxes on here ;) If need try and find Gamefest Firgitten Reakns Classics [14 games 2 discs]
your right hand is a bit too far to the left.

Welp, I think I'm going to fall over onto my bed.

I just hope that Jade Empire won't come up, I've been waiting for that one.

deathmyrk: Yea I was actually very surprised with Ultima Underworld. The screenshots do not give the game justice. Forever I have been looking for a PC game that can be comparable to King's Field. I mean, there is the elder scrolls series, but I always found there was something lacking. Ultima Underworld encapsulates a real sense of dread and desperation atypical of King's Field, but also pays huge nods to older dungeon crawlers. Anvil of Dawn is also a great game that provides likewise experience. I always wished From Software would rejuvenate KF, but with their "Souls" series, I can say that they have closed the chapter. Sad... But Ultima Underworld is most excellent.
Just looked up King's Field (never heard of it), looks like fun. Doesn't seem to be on GoG, though.

ElasmoFan: Do I really need Underworld though? I feel like 4 and 7 would already last me quite a while.
Funny thing is I bought Ultima VII the same time I bought Ultima Underworld I and II. They are all bang for buck games. If you really like dungeon crawlers, Ultima Underworld is worth every penny.

It seems like everyone has been waiting for that one. I know I am!

Sleep and dream of good sales, and good deeds done....

Minmataro: Well... isnt that just a world of suck.

its pathetic we need those games to be preserved in digital form...
We need classics that are supported for newer generations to discover. Im kind of shocked when i dont see Day of the tentacle, Diablo, Freelancer and a bunch of other games i grew up playing not offered anywhere but on Ebay.

Briareos262: Lucasarts has always been stubborn and now that Disney owns them too, they just don't seem to care as well.. Blizz is very protective of the games so yeah its next to nil seeing them here.
Sad thing is Blizzard doesn't sell the original Diablo anymore. I looked and they took it out of their shop. I feel the same way about the first 2-3 Elder scrolls games. Let GoG have them, they can support them so everyone can enjoy those games.

Wow.. I just now noticed XD Forgotten Realms good good!

Considering how many entries there are in the Ultima series, and the consistent level of quality across nearly every game, any time spent in Underworld (on top of 4 and 7) would be time well spent, in my opinion.

King's Field was great for its time. Granted controls were a bit clunky. The game was really immersive though and very fun. I remember it being one of the early PSX or PS2 games....probably PSX and it might have been on PC too, not sure.

To be fair, Arena and Daggerfall are free off the elderscrolls website, there exist installers that makes setting them up a breeze. Morrowind is on steam (only place I know of for the digital copy, but it doesn't have the construction kit in it sadly). But I totally get where you're coming from there.

I think Bethesda made Arena and Daggerfall available for free, no? And AFAIK Morrowind is sold digitally, just not DRM-Free (Steam)
Definitely tempting, what are the differences between underworld and 7?

You can download Daggerfall for free from Bethesda's site. I'm not sure about the other ones though.

Many people in the Net. make MODs to enhance the Graphics of many Ultima games! ( or redone them in other engines)
