Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Fun Fact: after you place said smarties tubes on their legs, cover your face because they quickly exact retribution in the form of clawing....

xenxander: Sacred Gold won't run on my PC.. I woudln't get it, it's not fit for machines.

Some peeps get it to run.. I can't..... so I don't like it, now. Even though I bought the actual discs back in the day.. I hoped GOG would have a working copy for windows 7.. but no. It won't run, sadly. just get Sacred 2, which has support for modern video cards.
In my experience, some of the games in the GOG catalogue may need tweaking to get them to work and it sometimes means even anticipating that and having a bit of patience. They do their best to make them work out of the box, but different CPU speeds, multicore, CPU features that autoscale the frequency up and down dynamically, and numerous other things can cause them to fail or misbehave. I've encountered this with several games so far such as Alone in the Dark 1/2/3, however I just hit the GOG forums, DOSbox wiki and Google and search for tips as well as contacting GOG support a few times. In every case so far I was able to solve the problem in less than 24 hours and often in less than 20 minutes. I might encounter a game that gives me a tougher time than that in the future but I'm not too worried about it. Heck, getting some of the MSDOS games to run in actual MSDOS when they came out was 10 times more challeging. LOL Running QEMM OPTIMIZE and juggling drivers, sound card DMA settings etc... Getting GOG versions of games (old or new) to work in Windows 7 is a breeze in comparison. ;oP

Infin8ty: I screwed up and decided to look for Thief Gold mods.... Apparently someone is making a massive retex mod for it. You can find the page on Moddb, but it's not finished yet.... So sad....
Honestly Theif gold has a style to it where i never really cared for graphics modes. i even play in the original 4:3 res aspect ratio. Its like Doom or Duke Nuke em 3D it just looks good.

However Thief 3 has an amazing texture mod that makes it look damn near next gen. its wonderful.

Best part? I've gotten all I really want. I'm just here for to finish for the fun of it.

xenxander: I want a techon-monkey to tell me why ME sucked.

No, don't get me wrong. I jumped from '98 SE + straight to windows xp, skipping everything inbetween.

However if you try to find out 'why' windows ME sucked, you can't get a straight-forward, technical, nerdy answer.

And that's what I want... anyone?
The two reasons why I returned to Win 98 SE after a few week on ME:
1- It ran slower
2- While it loaded DOS before loading ME over it just like all consumer versions of Windows before it, they made it so you could not only load DOS.

After that I waited for Windows XP SP2 before upgrading again.

ME wasn't the worst though, to me it was Vista. I had a Pentium 4, 7 Beta ran better than Vista on it.

johangsl: I don't get how Hotline Miami is taking so long. Such a great game!
I got it in a Humble Bundle (Indie 8) last May... probably a lot of other people did as well.
