Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

ubermunch: So... anyone up for guessing when this will kick? I'm guessing 11:37. What's the over/under on that? Anyone want some action on this?
Love the Kerok avatar!

dedoporno: Dead space has nothing on System shock 2. This is some scary shit, especially if played at night, in the dark, by yourself.
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: I just bought it the last time it was on. This sounds kind of ominous in a good way.
It is, like BIG TIME! The sound of legs dragging around, total chaos and of course the cult "Your flesh betrays you". I got goosebumps even while typing this. Great and very, very scary game indeed!
Hotline Miami is selling, just not quickly. Time zones and I imagine a lot of us already own it. (I do, it's good)

CorranHorn: Yes and no, compared to the games today Hitman 1 is not as restrictive, it´s no Deus Ex or even Thief but the fun part in Hitman is to try and kill people without ever being detected. That is a real challenge in the first game.
avatar
Infin8ty: Yeah, I've heard that the newer Hitman games were more restrictive. All but Contracts are on my catalogue on Steam, but I got fed up with the first one at the Hong Kong restaurant level. I basically memorized how to take out most of the guards without sounding the alarm but always died when I started to work towards the final objective. I tried not taking them out and I just died faster. I do play on maxed difficulty all the time, but I honestly felt that you were nearly forced to take out all the guards one-by-one or else those escort type sections of the mission would result in instant death.... Ugh....

Edit: Oh yeah, is finding the freaking safe that always killed me. I find the safe, then everyone on the entire map knows exactly where I am even though no one has seen me. I silently take out someone else and change disguise and they still know. I got pretty peeved....
Recently played the first one from start to finish, yes the first mission is a pain in the a** since it has that failure state and requires you to find the right safe and get the code for said safe (the safe is always random). I lost that mission so many times, so many times. But it got way more fun and I finally beat it, after that one the next games where easy in comparison (the new one I haven´t played, remind me a lot of how Splinter Cell used to be though).

CarrionCrow: Thoughts on how pissy GOG staff might get in the face of a mass email bombardment imploring them to please change this godforsaken piece of crap to something people actually want?
Hotline Miami can't be more far to a piece of crap. It's a brilliant game. It isn't selling just because everybody and their mothers already got it.
Anyone know how long this thing's been at 452 by chance?
Hey, can someone explain how this whole rep system works on GOG? People "upvote" or "downvote" your posts and then what? Can anything particularly magical happen as a direct result?

CarrionCrow: Anyone know how long this thing's been at 452 by chance?
It's in the 380's

Minmataro: Ok so Hotline killed the sale... However there is a bright side.

Now some of you can take a break for an hour or two or fire up one of the games you purchased!

Thats what im doing been playing through Riddick for the last hour.

DrRoxo: Just out of curiosity, what's the time where you're at? Somewhere around 7pm?
Yeah its 7pm right now in NYC.
I'll ask again since no one answered. Can you guys tell me what we've had since tales from monkey island?

CorranHorn: What happens if I press that link, will that get me a key?
avatar
dedoporno: Nope, that key is long gone. Ninjas, ninjas everywhere...
No I didn´t want the key, I just wanted to know if that would´ve given it to me if it still was up for grabs. my bad=).

Mentioned this before. A game that can be fine at the first minute will end up getting perceived as a piece of crap after an hour....or two....or five. It could be the greatest game created, but I still want the damn thing out of the way.
