Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

ramiera: Just checked yesterday, for which version should I watch (haven't seen the movie yet) :)
avatar
MGShogun: Whew! There's 4 versions but I myself like director's cut a lot, although the director doesn't like it.

Still, I would strongly recommend Final Cut since that's how Ridley Scott intended it.

It's quite brilliant sci-fi flick. I saw it when I was younger but I didn't appreciated it. Now, I do dig it a lot more. :D
The book is even better!

Actually, the book is a lot stranger.

I loved the director's cut of Bladerunner. I don't think any movie has captured that atmosphere as well, even to this day.

Velgor: Heh, actually my wife is not a gamer at all. Sometimes I wish she were.

johangsl: Same feeling here on the gamer wife. She has no clue as to why I keep refreshing GOG every 15 minutes lol.
I got mine addicted to WoW.

BAM! No more wife aggro while gaming and we even have an agreement. She can have a 3 night a week raid schedule that never changes if i can buy any game i want without maxing out my gaming Credit card.

Its been working the last 9 years.

Minmataro: I would do the same but the the games i still want total to $34.99 instead of $8.50 if i hang on...
Thats a $26+ bucks.... thats like another 3-5 normal gog games... i have to wait

NO I MUST WAIT

MGShogun: Things we do to save the money, lol.

But honestly, I'm genuinely happy with my overall experience with this sale. I got to chat with lot of wonderful folks and I got to catch up on anime, which is a huge plus.

I'd rather to spend time with quality people online than with real life folks whose doesn't care about me.
I don't hang out at many sites (don't like the negative stuff at some) but this has been very pleasant. This and Groupees.com are about the only ones regularly (and the Goldenhawk site to catch up on Xenonauts updates)
I gotta work for 2 hours.. *sigh*
if anything really good shows up, someone buy me a copy and I'll buy you a copy of something else..

sure I can't prove I will do that but.. meh, work is work and I must do it.

kc7wzl: To me I rate Origin lower than steam... I got 6 games last year for Xmas.. they was games I wanted 3 I still have because I could not take back since they was opened. the other 3 was clearly marked online required ( for 1 player game = instant return ) the 3 I still have required steam.. do I gave them a shot.. not only I don't like there client but I get hack emails all the time.. needless to say if it has anything to do with steam it auto hits file can 13!!!

now with Origin... I bought the all out package of Dragons Age ( the first one ) and they still yet ( even after tons of emails and what not and them taking the money out for it 3 different times ) I still yet to get it!! the extras are not accessible and now I own 3 worthless copies of the game that I cant even give away!!

I have not tried the other DCD stores yet.. but the only one that has earned my trust is GOG.com

Steam and EA's Origin and all go away to the abyss as far I am concerned I will never do business with them ever again!!
I´ve purchased bundles from Humble Bundle, Bundle Stars and Indie Gala. So far it has worked without problem for me. Humble Bundle even has it´s own download site for the games that are DRM-free and often offer Mac and Linux version.

Chevette: One day you'll find a game that will convert her!
Nope...been trying for a very long time. The only thing I've managed to rope her into is Renaissance Faire. And she's gotten me to go to musicals. She's a performer, so most of the shows I see, she's singing in. But...still...

When you say the book, are you saying that the original Bladerunner move was based on a book? Or is is it the other way around?

Guys, your efforts are really appreciated. Here's a little suggestion - have you thought of coordinating your efforts a bit so the updated lists are more spread in this thread? Pages get pushed down really fast and along with them the list :-)

Agreed. The book is great and so is the DC. Speaking of other movies, got any recommendations that are at least a bit reminiscent of Blade runner?

Yeah.... i dig the book. It's pretty awesome stuff.

I just love the atmosphere in movie version. I'm a huge movie buff and I think BR is in top 5 in terms of atmosphere.

I find it hard to believe that BR only has 90 special effect shots. That alone should said something.

drumsfellow: I hear ya.

Dead Space
Mirror's Edge
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising
Populous

"Blade Runner" is based on the Phillip K. Dick short story "Do Androids Dream of Android Sheep". In fact many of the big sci-fi movies in the last 30+ years have been based on his work. That includes the Schwartzenegger version of "Total Recall" and more...

Movie was based on the book. But the book had different title, which is.... Does Androids Dream of Sheeps? But Ridley Scott bought the rights to title Blade Runner so he used that.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick

He also wrote Minority Report and a few others...
