Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

jackster79: Not sure I would go that far. Those games were more empire-building, while Nexus is more like Homeworld. Even so, I think Nexus was developed or published by the those who did the IG games.
avatar
siddham: I dont think Nexus is anything like Imperium Galactica.
Imperium Galactica is a game I wish would make it to GOG.
You and me both. I would like both games to make it here.

ALH: This 3rd round is a true marathon. But as said before it is win/win for both sides.GOG gets x amount of games sold(already knowing before the promo ends how much money they will make) and we get some cool deals and free games.I just hope there will be something special at the end of the promo, that would be cool!Best promo so far imo and it certainly has also activated the GOG community. It's all good.
avatar
KMJX: I'm pretty sure they will be gifting Jack Keane 2 after the promo
please could we go on keaning

dedoporno: I was out for a couple of hours. Did BG1 passed already? I so hope I didn't miss it...
We are safe, it should be to come in the future.

CalicoPup: Seems like I might be the only person around here that doesn't use Steam.

I've had huge problems with them in the past, requiring me to log in to play games I own and downloaded from them.
avatar
gscotti: Nope, here's another one who doesn't, never has, and never will use Steam.
I unfortunately have to use it for a very small number of games (Half-Life 2 and the Orange Box, obviously, Bioshock Infinite, Dead Island, Rage, Deus Ex: HR, X-Com and the Football Manager games) that i actually own as physical copies, which is pretty absurd to me. I wonder why i even bought the physical copies since once i register the keys they become pretty useless.

Ydrisselle: Nexus should be IG3, but the devs didn't have the IP any more...
I do remember reading about that in the articles of the day. It started out as IG3 but somehow morphed into Nexus. I never understood why though. Wonder how or why they lost the IP. I do not think they bombed IG2 that much. Quite the contrary, I thought IG2 was a very likeable game.
Aw man! Took the kids to the park and THAT's when Inquisitor shows up!

I mostly just used them for the free games. Portal and one or two others.

Same as I did for this site, but because this site isn't full of buttheads at the helm and they let you download and forget it, not have to use THEIR SOFTWARE as a launcher, I'm much happier and spendier here.

Kaitu: Here's my list from this sale:

SS2 (Trade for BG2)

Codes (either for myself or to trade):

Deus Ex

Don't Starve (x2)
bah, I wanted Don't Starve and Deus Ex, but you already have SS2 so I can't offer you a trade

the Fall Insomnia continues to find ways of screwing with me!

EDIT: thanks to Kaitu for Don't Starve :)

Bad Neighborhood?

jackster79: If you mean the "point-n-click" adventure game then yes.

FreDDaN: Yeah thats the one. I don't know any other Shadowgate games, well guess there was the 64 version.
Well, there was one that was on the Neo Geo I think, called "Beyond Shadowgate". But on the NES, there was just the one game.
Been away for a couple of hours (The Real Texas sale was still going on).
What I've missed since then?

NightDriver: I've know I've missed it twice already, despite my best efforts. Is there perhaps any chance of me picking up Neverwinter Nights 2 today, or has that ship already sailed?

I used steam because it was the first place I found where I could do direct download of games in New Zealand, there were other DD sites available at the time, but only for users in the US or Europe etc. Of course these days there are lots of Direct Download sites that can be used from NZ.
