Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

northern7: So, how many games have you bought simply on IMPULSE?

me - three:

Miasmata
Septerra Core
TA Kingdoms
...but I think at least 2 of those three will be good.
avatar
Minmataro: Out of the 21 games i purchased 5 were on impulse

Inquisitor
Startopia
Shadowman
Riddick
Myst
All I can say are good games except for Inquisitor which I do not know much about. got startopia too.

infinitee8: In my mind I thought I clicked fast on Giana Sisters. In reality I was probably as slow as a snail.

gscotti: If it makes you feel better: this time I didn't even see the freebie. D:<
heh, so i'm not the slowest snail in all the land. yes, that does make me feel better!

truhlik77: Hey, what do you think. Will be NWN2 sometime at this price again?.
avatar
Yarilo: I don't know about alone, but it comes at the same price when they have that DnD bunbdle sale that includes BG1/2, PS:T, ID1/2, ToEE, Dragonshard and Demon Stone.
I bought that Bundle. I like the refer to is as the "Say goodbye to your loved ones, you wont see daylight for a while Edition"

Neverwinter Nights 2
Reus.

Played Reus a bit and am loving it. Haven't had time for NWN2 though.

Christmas sale tends to be huge. "discount wise"

I don't do IMPULSE, I think it's an inferior product, especiallly compared to gog.com

Oh you meant how many games we didn't actually PLAN on buying? well.... uhm... 3 out of 5, of which one a double NWN2 I picked up for less lucky fellas?

KMJX: *sigh* okay, bought Evoland. Guess I had it coming for playing it for free and then liking it....

At least with this Freebie i actually saw it and got a "Sorry" message instead of a "bear" thingy holding up a planet
Actually the bear is better. The "Sorry" message means you have missed it 100% sure. The bear one could mean you have gotten it, but got the error anyway. I got one freebie on my library without noticing after one of those bears, another one after refreshing another bear, and the last one showed properly.

So I would advice to refresh the explorer (just in case) if you get a bear after clicking on a freebie. And either way, check your library, as it may be there already.

I´ve seen many games being sold at 80% together with other games but this is the first time I see for example Thief 2 and NWN 2 being sold with this kind of discount without getting another game.

Kaitu: I REALLY liked Septerra Core back when it first came out.
and that was the one I thought I would be least likely to play...will have to give it a go sometime. :)
God damn it! Give us quicker sales, or a real Keaner so I can get some sleep, these 20-60min sales are killing me, too short to risk going to sleep, but too long to properly wait out :(.

Ydrisselle: It's a good game. It's the spiritual successor of the Imperium Galactica games, if you know them.
avatar
jackster79: Not sure I would go that far. Those games were more empire-building, while Nexus is more like Homeworld. Even so, I think Nexus was developed or published by the those who did the IG games.
I dont think Nexus is anything like Imperium Galactica.
Imperium Galactica is a game I wish would make it to GOG.
