Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Velgor: QFT
avatar
Ungunbu: plz what QFT stands for?
Quoted for Truth.
avatar
Ludi: em jade empire already "last chanced"??
avatar
TH_BEl: no
ahh ok thanks ^^

Velgor: The last four games I've purchased were all impulse buys, and I gifted them to myself so I have codes to trade. I'm likely to keep them all, but I DO have one that is up for grabs if I can't get Jade Empire or Nexus. And that's System Shock 2.

So, if you missed out on SS2, hang in there and we can possibly trade. Or I'll be giving it away to some lucky sod here in these lovely forums.

Now run away before I taunt you a second time!

Faenwulf: I'll buy it for you for tree fiddy!
Now why did you go an do that for? Now he'll never leave us alone!

northern7: ya, i own the originals too, but got BGI EE somewhere on the cheap (can't remember where(?)). Even own the disks and have a digital copy of BGII from here...but still interest in the EE for it - just not at $25.
avatar
GhostwriterDoF: I have all the originals too, for BG 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale 1 and 2, with the original manuals and fold out maps... :)
Me too! And I have them here too so I don't have to mess with disks. I still pull the paper manuals out when I'm playing the GOG version though. Much easier than trying to look at a PDF while playing.

Xabyer_B: Divine Divinity does not have anything to envy to Inquisitor.
avatar
gscotti: What exactly do you mean? That Divine Divinity is at least as good, at least as bad, better, or worse?
Better. More difficult and interesting.
avatar
nijuu: So what do you reckon were the top 10 slowest movers?
avatar
groze: This is not based on overall performance, but rather on stalling almost to a halt on specific rounds:

10. Strike Suit Zero (had a rough round 2)
9. Chaos Engine (pretty rough 'Last Chance')
8. Don't Starve (this 'Last Chance' could place it high above on the list, but it already had slow sales once before)
7. Nexus (had a pretty rough round 2)
6. Divinity: Dragon Commander
5. Book of Unwritten Tales (kinda stalled in its 'Last Chance')
4. Eador (see BOUT)
3. Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded (OH MY GOD!)
2. Omerta: City of Gangsters (only The Keanegate beats the endurance of the Omerta Trial)
1. Jack Keane 2 (undoubtedly!)
What about "Wargame: European Escalation"? That one must've been the slowest mover during round 1 by far. How did it fare in the subsequent sales?

i played divine divinity a bit and i can say only good things about it
So any informed guess on what title is coming up next? Hell, even uninformed guesses. Guesses in general, I guess.

As long as it's not Lucius and Omerta, i'll be happy.
avatar
groze: I didn't find it hard at all, just plain boring.

It's not a bad game by any means, far from it, just not my cup of tea. I can understand why so many people love it, it's just not for me.
avatar
wanderlust76: You probably used a couple of the broken, overpowered skills that have been well identified. :D If you play non-exploit Divine Divinity it's way harder than a number of other RPG's. You can get rocked in the first dungeon very easily and some of the the Orcs outside the first town can one shot you. THis game just doesn't really remind me of DD the graphics are better in DD for starters and DD has a lot of open world exploring you can do.
Man, it's just an opinion, if you guys love the series, that's fine, I can see the quality in the games, I just don't like them. I didn't use any overpowered skills, I played as a Thief/Rogue/whatever they call it in there and had class-exclusive skills. The first dungeon took me about three hours to finish, and not because the enemies were particularly challenging, they just take a whole lot of time to kill as a Thief. I also didn't like the whole "going back to the room to sleep and stash" system, I found it immersion breaker and time-consuming. And all that talk about the superb voice acting, to me, is just that: talk, since at least in the outset town there's only subpar and mediocre voice acting.

I have nothing against losing myself in a video game and investing in it, even if only as a means of escapism, but for that to happen the game has to interest me, something Divine Divinity definitely didn't.

I mean, myself, I love me some good point-and-click adventures and a few action RPGs, I'm not going to start getting mad at random people just because they don't like those games... fortunately, there's a lot of games to choose from, and we all can have what we want.

It will definitely be the one after this one... :P

jackster79: :-)

These are the only games that have gone since:

The Real Texas
Tales of Monkey Island
Inquisitor (current one on sale)
Ah, great, thanks! Only title that'd have interested me is The Real Texas... and I kinda sorta already bought that earlier in the sale. Hm, don't even know when, memory's getting pretty damn blurry by now. ^^
