Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CharlesGrey: Been away from the computer for a pretty long time; I'm surprised the promo is even still on.

At this point I'm mostly looking for a few more specific titles. Could anyone here please let me know if any of these games have yet to be featured for the third and final time?

Psychonauts

Giana Sisters ( main game )

La Mulana

Beyond Good and Evil

Thanks! If I missed them all, it's no big deal, since I already grabbed several games earlier ( never got a freebie, though :P ).
None have appeared yet!

Kaitu: Hey all, here's what I proposed for the next version of this sale. What do you think? (Particularly proud of the freebie system idea.) :-)

Here's my proposal for the next sale:

~120 games
~Four rounds
~Each round is 18 hours (period, no exceptions)
~Each game goes up and has 9 minutes to sell the allotment
~If a game sells quicker then the extra time is carried over to the next game and so on.
~If a game runs out of time then the surplus copies are added to the next round.
~Freebies fill in small slots
~Freebie shows up for 5 seconds, no exception
~Once the time has passed, winners of the freebies are notified
~Anyone who entered and didn't get picked gets another entry in the next one they enter
~Once you win one, your entries are reset

So, here's what would happen. Sale starts, first game is NWN2, 1000 copies. Sells out in 4 minutes. Next is SS2, 900 copies. has 13 minutes (original 9+NWN2's extra 4). IT sells out in 6 minutes. JK2 is next, 5 copies. Timer is only for 15 minutes and, when only a single copy sells, the other four are added to round two's allotment and the next game is back to the original 9 minute window.

As for freebies, RCR shows up, 50 copies, the 5 second timer ticks down. 200 people click on it. 50 people are chosen at random and get a "Congratulations" e-mail, other 150 each will get an extra "entry" in the next freebie. Next freebie is Divinity, 40 copies. The same 200 people from before enter. Now the ones who didn't win before are twice as likely as those that did to win.

What do you guys think?

P.S. Only reason I think the extra copies should be carried over is to make sure the title not selling out wasn't some fluke and to make sure people can get what they want.

Tolmar: GoG, please take note, especially the freebies idea.
I agree. I saw don't save load for free and literally clicked it the millisecond it appeared and it was gone. I have 50mgps internet which in america is pretty fast but its still to slow to get any free deals ive clicked on 4 now and missed every one so thats kind of dissapointing. I would much rather have a it's up for 10 seconds deal where it randomly chooses from there

Yarilo: "censor" is to cut out, suppress or repress something (a book or part of a book, an opinion, nudity in a movie, etc.) so that it can't be heard/read

"censure" is to express harsh criticism towards someone, generally in a formal situation. Like if you messed up at work, you might be censured by your boss.
ok now i got it --- and i meant censor in my (very) old post
I was tempted to get "Inquisitor", but then I read, among the reviews, this snippet:

Combat makes up about 75% of Inquisitor's gameplay, and it is horrendously bad. It basically plays out similarly to Arcanum's real-time mode, which you may know is pretty bad to begin with. Where things get even worse is in the game balance. Enemies in Inquisitor all have massively bloated hit points and take an extremely long time to kill. There are only a few worthwhile "tactics", like using magic to kill ghosts instead of physical attacks. The game is not challenging in the least, only tedious. If you have potions (be prepared to buy thousands of them, by the way, and devote 3/4of your inventory to them), combat is easy, but long-winded. If you have no potions, you will die.

This worries me. I'll pass.

Is it just me, or this Inquisitor looks a bit too much like an old-school Diablo, the inventory/armory system is nearly identical, not to mention potions, the look of the gloves, belts, rings etc.

Rip-off much or is it actually good?

stan423321: censor -> block
censure -> condemn

Ungunbu: well --- still don't get it --- thanks anyway
censure .... reprimenda

censor ..... censura

simpler - censor is to block an "undesirable" statement, piece of info by a person/persons
censure - restricts/eliminates the right of the person/persons to pass on any info/statements regardless.

you could buy it anyway to decrease the counter, then you can gift it to me --- LOL

gscotti: *snip*
Good to read that. Was about to give in for a game full of torture.
(Yeah, that sounds...crazy...)

groze: I honestly get a bit sad at all the people raging because they missed one or two titles, as if those are the only games worth buying on GOG... they do have an ever-growing catalog of titles, both old and new, plus they have sales and promos every single weekend (spanning three days, actually), so I'm guessing there are other games that might interest all you guys complaining about this and dissing GOG like you were just spoiled brats throwing a tantrum.

Plus, Christmas sale is coming soon, I'm guessing an average of 75% discounts on pretty much every title, so, just enjoy the wonderful community we have here, have a few laughs and build a wishlist with all the amazing games GOG has to offer.

Chevette: I think the problem is some people have waited for days to pick up those titles on this sale and they've missed them, so it's really disappointing. I haven't seen anyone raging about it, other than those who rage at not being one of the lucky clickers for a free game, that is.

A nice side benefit of waiting so long for these games to come up is this wonderful community, though!
I missed the first round and came in toward the end of round 2 or beginning of round three. Basically since 4pm Central TZ two days ago.. Besides work, and like few hours of sleep, I have not seen the games I want to buy at a discount price. I have bought nothing but Coel (a great guy) offered a gift to me. Thank god that he did that for me, otherwise, I feel that I might not get anything out of this. Fun offer though.

I dunno, I actually like that. It's the other things (in my previous post) that worry me.
Did BG2 pass for the last time?
Nice, didn't miss much while I was on the road for the last 40 minutes!
