Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Schemilix: Speaking of brutally hard games, anyone played aforementioned Vagrant Story or SMT: Lucifer's Call? (SMT: Nocturne for you Americans).
yes.both brilliant games

MysterD: Thanks for the info! :D

So, how long/short was the MOW campaign?
While it could take you days to complete it, if compared to Storm of Zehir or Mask of the Betrayer is short. The scope, and area covered is also more modest. However is packed, between main and side quests, if you don't rush it, I'd say 10-20 hours.

Chevette: Inquisitor is a good game. Anybody who enjoys old school isomentric RPGs would enjoy this one.
avatar
Kaitu: Thought about getting it but I already got way more than I should have this sale and it is (relatively) speaking expensive for this sale.
You know everything's dirt cheap when 3.74 is "expensive" relatively!

Schemilix: Speaking of brutally hard games, anyone played aforementioned Vagrant Story or SMT: Lucifer's Call? (SMT: Nocturne for you Americans).
Played both, didn't beat either but they were fun while I played them. Just didn't get motivated to finish em. More that storyline didn't engage me on Vagrant and Nocturne, well I played it for about hour and want to still, but you know time and such never really finished.

Deva: How many people know they have way more games than they could ever play, (let alone finish), and yet, you keep on buying new ones anyway?

Worse, how many buy them and then never get around to even installing a good number of them? I just ask to see if I'm alone on this....

justanoldgamer: I'm at 281 on GOG, so yes I don't think I'll ever play or finish them all.
I'm a bit of a hoarder and since I saw Chessmaster 9 disappear from the site it got harder to resist buying games on sale that I might like just in case they disappear too.
This. I am now uber paranoid about any game I have not yet bot here on GOG that is in my wishlist. I basically ask myself every time: if this game were pulled from the shelf within the next 10 minutes, how would I feel? If I can live without it or do not think I will ever want to play it, to the wishlist it goes. Otherwise I buy it.

It would not be so bad if it was advertised on the main page when a game was leaving, but I suspect as others have said GOG is not able to do that for contractual reasons.
Alright, don't think I can outlast inquisitor so giving up for today and going to bed. See you guys/gals later and good luck with your games coming up soon.

CorranHorn: If you like Demon Souls/Dark Souls then take a look at Severence (the game that clearly inspired Demon Souls), played the demo so many times and when I finally came to the boss he killed me with one bloody strike, tried to beat him but gave up. Another game I need to play when I have the time to do so=).
avatar
Faenwulf: Oh gods, Severance.
I have no Idea how I managed to nearly beat that game with the Dwarf. I tried it years later and I almost always died instantly using the Barbarian.
It was the first game I thought about when I saw Demon Souls, died so many times before I came to the boss, and I probably died just as many trying to kill the sob.

Not being able to save did make it so damn hard, another game that also didn´t have saving was Alien vs Predator (before they decided to patch it in) and playing as a marine with the sound from the scanner always makes me shiver=).

Ungunbu: try playing the original rogue
I still have that on my computer. (Along with NetHack and a few others.)
avatar
Yarilo: I think now you really do mean "censor;" it'd be pretty funny to have the government express severe disapproval to people for what they say.
avatar
Velgor: Oh they most certainly DO express disapproval. The common tactic is now to call racism or bigotry or any other such nonsense if one side disagrees with the other's position. It's totally grid-lock and we're all squeezed in the middle.
That isn't what I meant, and is pretty much an entirely separate point anyway xd

Khalaq: I still have that on my computer. (Along with NetHack and a few others.)
so you know what a hard game is

foorti: This gog sale imo is quite success...
compared to other digital shops
understatement...a huge success. thousands have bought on impulse and many have made purchases they wouldn't have otherwise made...
...others will follow suite...already seen mentioned of this...
avatar
Ungunbu: you all

download the original ROGUE now and try to beat it

it will take u ages
Someone has beat it!?

Haha I can't play original rogue anymore. I prefer Stone Soup or Tales of Maj'Eyal.

Oh you're missing out skipping their story. An hour isn't enough to get into the twisty-turny bits.

Digital Devil Saga are also two very, very solid games.

Buenro-games: Stick to soy milk, just make sure it's vanilla flavored. Then it tastes like a melted milkshake.

Maybe you can find those from farms or bio food producers so that you can be sure the animals those come from were raised in a confortable environment and fed appropriately.

Oh yeah, the endboss was freaking hard. I'm pretty sure that was when I gave it up. Or did I beat it...? I really can't remember.
