Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

stylez82: The other thing people don't realize, at least as far as the US Bill of Rights goes, is that Amendment I starts off with "Congress shall make no law...". Free speech isn't freedom to say whatever you flippin' want, it's a measure to prevent the GOVERNMENT from telling you what you can or cannot say.
Well said! :)

Speaking of brutally hard games, anyone played aforementioned Vagrant Story or SMT: Lucifer's Call? (SMT: Nocturne for you Americans).

Schemilix: Why is this game selling so slowly, it's glorious.

Dat OST.

Faenwulf: You could always start gifting it to others.
Like me, for example.
I'm a student, man. I wouldn't pick favourites anyway...

CorranHorn: If you like Demon Souls/Dark Souls then take a look at Severence (the game that clearly inspired Demon Souls), played the demo so many times and when I finally came to the boss he killed me with one bloody strike, tried to beat him but gave up. Another game I need to play when I have the time to do so=).

MasodikTiasma: Quick precision: "Severance" was the european name of the game. Here on GOG, it's sold as "Blade of darkness" only.
Severance is the International name of the Spanish game called Blade The Edge of Darknes. Here in gog they made a mix with the name.

Schemilix: It's actually not very Diablo-y. Give it a look see. The soundtrack's great and they put some real care into the story, but it can be very difficult and a bit tedious.

This coming from someone who plays Vagrant Story.
avatar
Faenwulf: Then I better not take a look. A) I have no money for it and b) I'm still fighting Dark Souls.....
God, the Design flaws in that game...
Hush -- Dark Souls is awesome.

( Not saying it's perfect, but the positive aspects far outweigh its flaws. )

Khalaq: +1 just for keeping it real. People are going to react to what you or I do (or say), but it shouldn't be up to the government to censure us.

Yarilo: I think now you really do mean "censor;" it'd be pretty funny to have the government express severe disapproval to people for what they say.
Oh they most certainly DO express disapproval. The common tactic is now to call racism or bigotry or any other such nonsense if one side disagrees with the other's position. It's totally grid-lock and we're all squeezed in the middle.
Hey all, here's what I proposed for the next version of this sale. What do you think? (Particularly proud of the freebie system idea.) :-)

Here's my proposal for the next sale:

~120 games
~Four rounds
~Each round is 18 hours (period, no exceptions)
~Each game goes up and has 9 minutes to sell the allotment
~If a game sells quicker then the extra time is carried over to the next game and so on.
~If a game runs out of time then the surplus copies are added to the next round.
~Freebies fill in small slots
~Freebie shows up for 5 seconds, no exception
~Once the time has passed, winners of the freebies are notified
~Anyone who entered and didn't get picked gets another entry in the next one they enter
~Once you win one, your entries are reset

So, here's what would happen. Sale starts, first game is NWN2, 1000 copies. Sells out in 4 minutes. Next is SS2, 900 copies. has 13 minutes (original 9+NWN2's extra 4). IT sells out in 6 minutes. JK2 is next, 5 copies. Timer is only for 15 minutes and, when only a single copy sells, the other four are added to round two's allotment and the next game is back to the original 9 minute window.

As for freebies, RCR shows up, 50 copies, the 5 second timer ticks down. 200 people click on it. 50 people are chosen at random and get a "Congratulations" e-mail, other 150 each will get an extra "entry" in the next freebie. Next freebie is Divinity, 40 copies. The same 200 people from before enter. Now the ones who didn't win before are twice as likely as those that did to win.

What do you guys think?

P.S. Only reason I think the extra copies should be carried over is to make sure the title not selling out wasn't some fluke and to make sure people can get what they want.

puviani: Well, I give up. GOG can just have a regular sale on The Real Texas and Shadow Magic if they want to dig into my wallet.
The Real Texas already went up, you missed it.

Yarilo: I think now you really do mean "censor;" it'd be pretty funny to have the government express severe disapproval to people for what they say.
And yet that is what has been happening in the U.S., recently. What's strange to me is that a large percentage of the U.S. population doesn't even bat an eyelash when it happens.

By the way, I did mean "censure" rather than "censor." (Although we're seeing some censoring going on, too.)
Taking a small break from the forums, guys.

Be back before this game sells out (have it open in another tab, background).

See you when it's below 30 or so...
This gog sale imo is quite success...
compared to other digital shops

KMJX: Inquisitor. Any words about it?
I have read that has very good story with "Too Much" text and very good and dark atmosphere, moral choices (with torture scenes), and many hours of gameplay. It Is a mix of old-school, like Infinity engine games (BG1, BG2 etc) in terms of gameplay but without turn based combat, like (diablo, titan quest, etc) . I can not give you my personal opinion, because I just bought now.
